Wheatsheaf Hotel

One of the things that I love about country pubs (though Virginia is technically not really the country, but that is another story) is that people are always ready to have a chat with you, and sometimes you get the strangest of stories. One of the guys that is no doubt a regular pointing at the sign hanging on the pub at the bottom of which is a phone number. He actually called that phone number once and discovered that somebody actually answered it, and not just anybody, the person who originally painted the sign. Okay, I don’t go around randomly dialling phone numbers (or at least I don’t any more) but it was still quite amusing. It’s a shame that the place is getting a little run down because that sign certainly needs a good painting (and the guy made a point of that) but it was still a pretty cool pub.
