Have been using this as our local curry over the last few years. The service and food has gradually been gotten worse. Received our curry delivered tonight 20mins late, part of the order missing and what was delivered, was cold to like warm. Called restaurant to complain and was given a non caring BS answer. Won’t be going back, or recommending, this restaurant /​chain ever again.
Such a shame as finding a great local curry house is really hard these days.

Totally recommended! I’d heard good things about this place but was sceptical — Melbourne has some half-​decent curry houses, but it’s hard to find one which you’d hurry back to.
The Roti Man stands out above the rest I’ve been to (and coming from The UK, I needed to find a good Ruby) — really tasty food, good choices, well cooked, quality ingredients, good service, friendly attentive staff, and reasonably priced.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the unlikely chance there’s a curry house in the league above this one.

Yikes, this Indian take away is just a tad too expensive for my liking.
Especially when there is more sauce in the container than the protein you are expecting. The curries we ordered were fine, nothing amazing though and it quickly reminds me why we don’t have indian very often.
We chose delivery as the ambiance in the restaurant did not allure us. As with most take away delivery it took just short of an hour to arrive. The website was slick but it predicted a 40min delivery time which was a bit optimistic.

Melbourne: they do just every cuisine pretty damn well here EXCEPT INDIAN which breaks my little English heart quite a lot as its my favourite nosh.
I was recommended Roti Man by a Brit friend of mine who assured me its «proper curry.» I didn’t want to get my hopes up too much but I was very pleasantly surprised by how good the food tastes at this place.
To be honest the décor is a bit cheesy, a bit «family night out» and not at all cool or urban (read: what I’ve been accustomed to in hipster Melbourne) but the food more than makes up for it = aromatic, great quality ingredients and damn tasty.
The service is also a big win = the staff are attentive and lovely and Shar, the owner is awesome and gives personalised service without being overbearing.
I’ve taken a few friends there and they’ve all loved it.
I would urge you to try the mango fish dish = sounds weird, tastes amazing.

The Roti Man isn’t bad at all if you’re looking for quality Indian takeaway. There’s a great range of options and all the classics are there such as Butter Chicken and Beef Madras plus a whole lot more for those who consider themselves to be a little on the adventurous side. The food is rich and pleasingly spicy and it’s nice to see that there are plenty of vegie dishes.
The only problem here is the price. At roughly $ 18 for a main, it’s just that bit too much to be paying for takeaway. Sure it’s justifiable if you’re dining in but I’m not really up for paying more than $ 15 (at the most) for something that arrives in a plastic container. To top it off you can’t get home delivery unless your order comes to $ 35, granted this really isn’t hard here considering the price of the mains, which is a little steep.
While the food may be tasty the prices at The Roti Man are far too inflated for what you get in return.
