Went for a spontaneous dinner with my sister we both love Asian food and Chu did not disappoint Nice atmosphere décor a little funkier than some of our older established Asian restaraunt and a family run business which always adds a homely touch Would suit couples business or family dining We enjoyed soft shell grab which was crispy in a lovely fresh salad the the duck lychee and orange us a side serve of steamed veg yum !! The service was delightful and we felt very valued all in all I would recommend and will be back !!

This place is punching just above 3-stars(«A-Ok») but it doesn’t quiet make it to 4-stars. I recommend this restaurant for the nice ambience(it’s more elegant and modern than the usual Chinatown Chinese restaurant), very pleasant service(great with the kids) and good Asian fusion food(mostly Chinese, with some Vietnamese and Thai thrown in). I’ve been here twice now, once with another couple on a double date sans kids, and tonight with the kids. This place can transform from a family friendly place to date night. The food. If you like deep fried stuff with sweet-ish sauce, which is popular in westernised Asian food, then you will enjoy this place. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the lemon chicken($ 16.50), a fav with the kids whenever we have Chinese, while battered and deep-fried as they usually are, was moist chicken breast and not chicken thigh and other non-identifiable chicken parts at all the Chinatown joints I’ve been to with the kids. The kway teow($ 16.50) was decent but didn’t have that yummy crusty caramelised bits from a hot wok. The salt & pepper soft shell crab($ 27.90) was recommended to us my our friendly waitress but it was waaaay too soggy and oily, from the oil not being hot enough perhaps overcrowding the wok. Very tasty, if you can ignore that oil(I couldn’t so I only had two bites). A warning though that it is spicier than expected,(which was a secret YAY from me), but definitely not suitable for children or my hubby who needs to up his chill game. I can see myself returning again with the family if I don’t want to venture to Gouger St. Will try the duck which seemed popular and other dishes on the menu. BYO corkage $ 12/bottle.

A lovely little takeaway place serving up a safe, yet tasty hybrid Chinese/Vietnamese menu. This isn’t traditional Vietnamese or Chinese, nor is it fine dining, but Chu’s cook up a consistently tasty mix of the two and as such it’s a staple delivery place for our house. The food is always pretty good quality and has just the right amount of spice. I particularly like the spring rolls — they serve it with a Nuoc Cham that’s completely addictive. I always order duck in some variety too — they always do it really well, not fatty but tender. The only thing I will say that the serving sizes aren’t huge, so order more than you think you’ll need. Practical stuff: Chu’s delivers to the Unley-area suburbs, and usually takes about 30 – 45 mins. Average price pp: $ 25.

Great value for money and some of the best Vietnamese in Adelaide. I’ve ordered take away and eaten in many times, never had a bad time or an unsatisfactory meal. Fantastic soups, hotpot rice, and cold rolls. The staff are pleasant and polite, however you might have to get around a bit of a language barrier if you’re ordering delivery.
