Slow service. Our first server didn’t speak English so they had to assign us another sever. I had to send my food back because it tasted like the spinach had gone bad. My food tasted like it had been microwaved. Overcrowded tourist trap with meh food.

Looks good from the window, just ok though… Great quick service of pies, coffee, and pastries. My meat and mushroom pie was just average, bit bland really. Great service and good location though!

A tad overpriced and the food borderline. The pineapple juice tasted like urine that had been put through the soda stream. I had the veggie pastie thing. It tasted very strange and was small, not the normal size of a pastie. VB beer was $ 8.50 :o will not be back

We stopped in after touring The Rocks in need of sugar to get us through. We had the macadamia caramel tart and two pieces of almond shortbread. Buttery delicious heaven. I’m considering a trip back to The Rocks just for some sweets

Oooh, not good. Pie was so ordinary that my friend didn’t even buy a cake …& he’s a cake fiend. New Years Resolution… Don’t eat another meat pie… Ever!

We stumbled upon Bakers Oven while meandering through The Rocks. We sat in the back section, which has table service. The front section is just To-Go. We decided to eat at Bakers Oven because the ambiance looked very relaxing and cute. The back section is outdoors and is on Nurses Walk, which is a nice view. I had the Australian Beef Pie. It was flavorful and filling. But the fries that came with it were a bit dry. My mother had an omelette, which was not good at all. It was dry and flavorless. So I guess the food is a bit hit-or-miss. Best to stay away from the omelettes. If you are in The Rocks or Circular Quay area and are looking for a casual and enjoyable meal, I would recommend Bakers Oven. But definitely do not go out of your way to go there. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could.

Picked up a couple of pastries to go during my stay in Sydney. The ones I chose were definitely more of a ‘looks better than they taste’ variety. Not that they were bad. They weren’t. They just looked so much more moist and melt-in-the-mouthy than they actually were. The chocolate dipped cookie was big and tasty, if a little chewy. Perfect for dipping into a nice, hot, cup of coffee.

Gods the cherry strudel here is impossibly good. It’s the best $ 6 you can spend in the Rocks, market day or not. Plus, they have solid flat whites!

Had a nice Angus burger for lunch here. It was a $ 16 burger, but was delicious. It came with fried onions, tomato, lettuce, and pickled beets. The tables are small, so get it to-go if you are super tall. They’re friendly and helpful. A good experience. I might go back for a pastry in the morning. =)

I came here by accident as myself and a friend we’re looking for some small little place in the shade to have a quiet conversation. We stumbled upon The Bakers Oven Café, where I easily locked up my bike outside, and we sat down under the shade umbrellas to grab a hit of caffeine. The service was quick and friendly, and we weren’t bothered by the fact that we stayed for about an hour and a half over 1 coffee. The outdoor seating here is great for people watching, and it wasn’t too loud even though it was on the main street in The Rocks. The location is stunning, and even though you’re in the the heart of touristville, it’s surprisingly refreshing with a local humble feeling. The coffee was simple and strong, which was great for a cappuccino, next time I will have to try the espresso and give it a better rating.

I was looking for the trifecta … and no… I am not referring to the Melbourne Cup. For me the trifecta is finding a café that serves good coffee, delicious cake, and has a power outlet for me to charge my devices. Getting 1 of 3 is basic, 2 of 3 is hard, and 3 of 3 is near on impossible. Today to fulfil my mission I walked all over Martin Place, the Pitt St Mall, and finally made my way down to Circular Quay and then the Rocks. And here, at the Rocks is when I found it. Having walked by the Baker’s Oven a couple of weeks back I saw that it was still being refurbished and was unable to obtain my normal purchase from here, a hedgehog slice, but today I had no such issue. In fact the only problem I had was that I didn’t recognise the store. The new layout is awesome! It could quite likely now be my favourite café(serving food) in the Rocks. For coffee though Mecca CQ(review ) still takes the cake. Speaking of coffee, the Mocha coffee that they serve he is actually quite nice. While next time I would specifically ask for less milk in my mac, the cream was great, and the coffee was not over espressed. Oh… and I talked about the trifecta right? Well this time I partook of the Choc Mousse Cake which was delectable. Totally back of the spoon licking good cake… :-) So if you are down this part of town, be sure to give them a go. The best things in life include eating a yummy muffin, drinking superb coffee, and watching the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And the best place to do all those things is at the Baker’s Oven Café at the Rocks. It’s a quaint little bakery that serves the best homemade pastries and pies you’ll ever get the chance to eat. The most delicious hazelnut slice that you can imagine with the best cup of cappuccino will have you coming back for more and then some. The people there are incredibly friendly and add a homely atmosphere that will make it on your list of places to go to on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended!
