This was my first sushi train experience, I went there for lunch so it was pretty crowded. This place is good for a quick meal as many people come in, eat and go. The sushi were great and tasted really fresh! The price is vey reasonable ranging from $ 4 – 8AUD depending on the colour of the plate.

$ 3.30 a plate of sushi, the price is reasonable and who doesnt love sushi trains! Even though the place is small, it can fit quite a number of people. If you are expecting high quality, sushi master made rolls, this is not a place for you. Compared to a lot of sushi places, there isnt a lot of variety(in terms of sushi), but good enough. There are also a few options on non-sushi hot food like like rice bowls/udons/gyozas etc. Service is good, it’s quite easy to get the attention of the waiter/waitress.

Fantastic little sushi train inside the Event Cinemas foyer area. We came through on a Sunday afternoon about 1pm and there were plenty free seats(stools as you are sitting up at the bench and can watch the sushi being prepared), but enough patrons to keep the train relatively fresh. The sushi is pretty good, not a huge variety but we had some California roll, soft shell crab roll and a spicy roll I couldn’t identify, but the spicy sauce was awesome. I suspect there would be more variety on a busy evening, and the chefs were slicing some fresh wagyu but we couldn’t wait around for it. 3 plates came to $ 11. Good for a quick light meal before going in for a film.

Love their fresh sushi. Good service but the chair was uncomfortable. I always had to beware of myself was going to fall down from the chair

I want to give it a 4 and a half but doesn’t seem to be an option. Ate there last night before watching the new hunger games movie(the movie wasn’t that great), but Umi express was delicious! I will go watch the movie again if it means we get to eat there beforehand! Sushi train on Oxford street used to be the go for quick cheap greasy Japanese on the go, Umi is just as good if not better, and isn’t as greasy. Food was fresh, tasted expensive but was dirt cheap! I honestly never write reviews, but I really enjoyed myself

I miss the Sushi Train!!! This place just doesn’t compare. I’ve eaten at the counterpart in Darling Harbour and have the same issues here. They have a very limited vegetarian option. They don’t have very many interesting plates at all really — I think I saw 1 fusion plate on the train which included roe which I can’t eat. It was upsetting making. Also they don’t have mayo. NOMAYO!!! I died a little death at this. So sushi before a movie is now going to be finding an alternative…

Good place for a quite bite before your movie at Event Cinemas George Street on tightass Tuesdays or before any movie for that matter. Everything is $ 3 outside of a few items, and there are decent deals going on with gyoza and the like. Try to get here earlier as there may be a huge queue. Food is pretty fresh and tasty, and you see them prepare it all in front of your face. The biggest gripe I have is when you order something from their menu… as Mela stated, it takes AGES!!! Don’t order something from the menu unless you like to wait or have time to kill before your movie… takeaway available as well.

This is a newly-opened sushi train inside the Event Cinemas George Street complex, right beside Chatime. It’s a sibling to Umi Sushi & Udon and Umi Kaiten Zushi… neither of which I’ve been to before so I can’t really compare. :P Went here on a Tuesday night and was able to get seated quickly. It was a really busy night, but I guess everyone was too busy fawning over Sandra Bullock and getting their Cheaper Tuesday tix. Also, I guess since it’s newly opened not a lot of people know about it yet. The décor makes me think of Japan in the 80’s, lotsa neon lights and signs saying stuff I don’t understand. The seats are all clustered ’round the counter. ALLSUSHIIS $ 3WOOHOO. Not sure if that’s an opening promo or if it’s really like that… but anyway… s’awesome. Sushi is pretty good. Though I’m taking a star off though because when my friend ordered some specific sushi, it took ages. And I mean agessssssssssssssssss it was insanely long. Otherwise, if you’re happy with just picking food off the train, go for it! This is perfect when trying to catch a movie but not having enough time — no need to wait for your order, you can just pick it off the train. No alcoholic drinks allowed yet, but they said they’re working on their license.
