Back in October of 2011, a friend of mine randomly led me down a set of stairs– a detour from our final destination of the the Crave Sydney International Food Festival being held in Hyde Park. Long story short, by the time I had walked up the stairs, I had signed up for a free try of a pilates class. The day after the pilates class, I had a gym membership. Elixr on Park Street is just 1 of 3 locations. I believe it is the smallest, no where near in size of the Bondi Junction location, so if you’re looking for a gym with lots of equipment and room, this is not your gym. But if you’re focused on taking quality classes, then it is your gym. I go almost exclusively for the pilates classes. Instructors are pretty regular for the time slots so I usually have Jen, Karl, Nicki, and Alice. All four are excellent and have helped me stay motivated in continuing on. The hours aren’t great for those who like to workout into the later hours, but other than that, this gym is perfect for me.

I’m not writing to tell you about Elixr — although — all my friends know I LOVEIT… I’m writing to tell you about Wall Yoga? What? Wall Yoga! Yip, imagine tying yourself up in a harness and spending most of your Yoga class upside down strapped to a wall… to some this may totally freak you out — but for me — I LOVEIT — I consider it my heaven… You see Wall Yoga, uses gravity to push your body deeper and deeper into its stretches… which is you’re a yoga lover like me — you’re gonna adore… Is this for beginners? I don’t know — the gym says yes, but I think you will get more value out of it if you’re more experienced… The one warning I would have is you do spend a decent amount of time hanging suspended from the ground — upside down… if this freaks you out, i would give it a miss… Classes last for an hour and available to members or for drop in’s($ 25)…
