It’s everything that a small bar should be, secret alleyway entrance, winding fire exit stairs to reach, and an atmosphere that has hipster cool written all over it. Went there on a saturday night ad the place was packed to the rafters, with an approximate ten minute wait to get a drink! That said the place is buzzing with activity! As you make your way past the formal diners at the ground level restaurant and up the stairs to the bar the vibe transforms into fun and relaxed. There are plush oversize velvet chaise lounge corners if you like, or, you can grab one of the tables around the bar. It’s all very apartment coverted into a bar kinda place, and once you have pushed past the crowds and got yourself a cocktail, it does’nt take long to slip into feeling a little comfy!

One of the best hidden gems around Sydney. It’s a bar with an entrance tucked away in an abandoned alley. And you gotta send a text with a special code to a designated number to gain access! How cool is that for a first date?! When you get into the bar, you’re confronted with a few chilled out lounges and if you’re lucky, you’ll also see a live band performing at the venue!

If you want to feel like you’ve part of some sort of secret underground Sydney society you definitely need to check out Sticky Bar. There’s no «official» entrance but as a tip disregard the sign on the restaurant below that says you can’t enter that way… and go for it anyway. The cocktails are strong, the live music is flowing and it’s not hard to feel like a complete and utter badass in the sea of beautiful people that typically flock there.

This is one of those ultra hip secret inner city bars that you have to «know» how to get into because there is no street frontage, no sign, nothing. (to be honest, I’m a little«over» that whole thing, hehehe) I had a drink called a «Rum n Tug»… it was pretty delicious. Staff were friendly, not pretentious(A+). Inside was very dark, swank chandelier, plush, vintage chic, mismatched couches and what not. Standard for this type of place.

Go on the interweb. Find a date, making sure they’re not an axe murderer(unless that’s what you’re into). Demand to choose the venue; create a scene if needs be. Take them to Sticky Bar. Sip your cocktail and admire your date in the comfort of the deep lounge chairs and Stygian gloom. Take them home. Make babies.

Very cute little bar in Surry Hills. They had a great live band when we were there. Drinks were a touch expensive, but the atmosphere was good and the bartenders were fun. I like a place where the bar staff is friendly and actully seem to enjoy work. I could see how this place would get way too crowded quickly. We didn’t have any problems when we went, but it’s limited space and seats. Don’t arrive too late in the night.

This cosy bar has a good atmosphere and great live music on a Saturday night. Shame the bar staff have sticky fingers, I was short changed $ 10. Not impressed, especially when I was forced to order a beer, after being told ‘they were only really serving beer and spirits’(not wine) at 11:30pm on a Saturday night.

I was there with a mate on Thursday night, $ 15 seafood paella with a pisco sour, excellent deal! Awesome bar hidden away on Campbell St with friendly down-to-earth staffs. Two thumbs up from a Melbourne boy who’s loving the laneway bar scene in Sydney.

Sticky Bar is kinda like that charming, aloof, super suave man standing at the corner of the party giving you a squint eye smile. He should come say hello to you, shouldn’t he? But he doesn’t. So you wait ’til the time is right, you weave through the crowd losing sight of him for moments at a time, finally to be standing directly in front of him saying hello. For a moment he doesn’t say anything and you worry that all the effort has been a big mistake. And then he speaks to you, in Italian, kisses your hand and smiles. He likes you. Sticky Bar is a cocktail /wine lounge located upstairs of Table for Twenty. The Campbell Street address will likely send you on a wild goose chase to the opposite side of the building. Really, it’s in an alleyway right before Campbell and just like all the other coolest-of-cool bars in Sydney, there’s no sign. I got lucky and followed a group upstairs. Wind your way past Table for 20 and enter the dark space that is slightly reminiscent of the brandy parlor on the Titanic(I will make the distinction here that I wasn’t actually on the Titanic, but am judging from the movie alone). The menu rotates according to season, but went during winter and ordered the $ 15 roast(inclusive of glass of red). It was deliciously tender veal with a sweet potato mash and roast veggies. They also have nightly selections of tapas /share plates and a great cocktail menu to boot. I didn’t steer away from the red wine, but was happy with their selection. The bartender chatted to me about the menu and even gave me a few tastes as I waited for my friends to arrive. I say try Sticky Bar on a weeknight, perch on one of their leather ottomans or sink into a comfy sofa. It’s a great place to cozy up to someone special.
