Lixie Chocolaterie

Wow this gorgeous little chocolate shop has the most amazingly delicious handmade chocolates — created on site. They have a variety of flavours from delicate to intense and are packaged beautifully. Perfect for a little treat or for gifts. I’ve also enjoyed yummy cakes and desserts and hot chocolates here too. Try it out!

Lixie is a great chocolate shop run by a friendly lady (and occasionally help from her mother). A good assortment of single origin chocolate bars and delicious truffles that are creative, and delicious.
Small seating options, give it a nice cozy environment where I suggest trying lots of truffles before picking out some to by. Try the passionfruit one. They put little gold flakes on them that really shows a high level of care!
(My one complaint would be that I like my hot chocolates thick. Like Spanish style thick with churros. But I visited this shop several times and was very happy with what I bought and the service I was given!)

Lixie is the new girl on Crown Street, laying out her jewels on classy cake stands and ribboned bags. Their chocolates are oh so fancy and if you visit at the right time you can watch their chocolatier tempering and enrobing away in the back. I love their chocolate buttons, actually in the shape of buttons, and bars in a variety of flavours.
Unfortunately they miss the mark with their hot chocolate, something you’d have high expectations for in a chocolaterie. Points for the hand flaked organic dark chocolate used and the neat option of flavoured chocolate (orange or peppermint) but I like my real hot chocolates belly-​achingly rich and thick and Lixie’s hocho just didn’t cut it. It was a bit too much like steamed flavoured milk and was missing everyone’s favourite part, the layer of melted chocolate at the bottom of the cup just waiting for your spoon, fingers, tongue, whatever will clean that pool of glory up and into your mouth.
Put it on the list next time you forget your anniversary and need a way off the couch, but there are plenty of other options in town if you need a stat dose of comfort.
