Dr Faustus offers the perfect remedies to recover after a hard night before from their menu which cures all your fatigue and hangover needs. Some of the selections include coffee topped with some bourbon glazed bacon, cereal milk and some other boozed sauces and syrups. The layout is pretty old school. It reminded me of walking into one of those old Wild West style Salon Bars and their is even sarsaparilla on offer so you can shout hey bar tender hit me with a sarsaparilla. I ordered a cereal milk topped with fruit loops. Who doesn’t love cereal milk right and that comes with option of coco pops too. Like being 8 again. Also decided to go for The White Chocolate, Cauliflower, white truffle soup topped with green onions served with sourdough toast(wow that’s a bit of a tongue twister). The combination was beautiful and each flavour complimented each other beautifully. Great team work you flavour guys. The sourdough bread was crispy and had some honey on it which was perfect for dipping into the mason jar of goodness. This place has got it going on definitely. Friendly staff and a creative menu. Perfect spot to get something different then your traditional breakfast and brunch spots that are on offer. Definitely will be back. Cauliflower Power !

Walked in here for brunch in a Saturday and had the 12 hour slow cooked pork burger. The pork is the recommended choice with very crunchy skin and a generous load of tasty sauce to go with it. Their restaurant pickles are a nice addition to take the sweet edge away, and all in all a well balanced burger.

Even in the rushed time we had it was our best Burger experience. We were surprised by how simple changes in a burger and the simplicity of the Burger could make such a fine meal. The Sauce was delicious and unique, the pickles freshly pickled, the bun fresh and soft, the meat tender and soft along with a side of crispy fries and ketchup. I could have of course been deceived into thinking the food was great due to the sublime atmosphere. Sparsely decorated was the phrase my partner used. Though the theme was splendid, the real joy came from the Even, fair spacing of the already beautiful and highly interesting. furniture and decorations. «Everything was perfection.»

Fabulous new addition to the area. I’ve been a handful of times in a very short period. Funky interior, super friendly, and most importantly, fabulous food. I’ve tried the mushroom burger, beef burger, taco salad and the BLT. All very tasty meals, but the standout for me was the mushy burger. And I’m a dedicated carnivore! The only coffee I’ve had here is the bacon bourbon piccolo. Great novelty but a bit too sweet for me. I’d definitely recommend everyone tries this at least once though! Can’t wait to go back and try more off their menu.

Ugh, this place is SUCH a long walk away. I was actually headed to One Five Two on Liverpool Street, but it was closed so I walked down. Just as well, because BURGER! Mostly wanted to visit here for the cereal milk so that’s exactly what I got! Hello, Nutrigrain cereal milk. They put lollies in there too! Oh, but they were rock hard because the milk was so cold and brain freeze, but luckily it was such a hot day that brain freeze was welcome. I wanted to order the taco salad the whole time I was staring at the menu outside and looking at the photos, I probably should have, but then I got inside and was swept away by the daily special mirror. Watermelon, radish, feta, mint salad… though, I think they forgot my radish because there was no trace of it. Also, we had to order the Dr. Faustus Burger and it was noice. It was a little reminiscent of Mary’s but, I’m going to say, better. I’m totally going back to try the taco salad or the EGGS next time. The lady next to us ordered it and it looked AMAZEEEEEEEEEEEEEBALLS!

Read Howard’s review, and got up to the part with«vanilla bourbon piccolo with glazed bacon» and one of my shoes fell off in anticipation. It will be mine, oh yes. The store itself is like a ye olde timey apothecary, in fact that’s what it might have been, but now there’s mega-friendly American hipsters manning the counter and the menu is modest in size but sweet mother-trucking heaven, what there is of it is filled with creative genius, like the fried okra(vuuuury under-represented on Sydney’s menu scene), and chilled tamarind, juice and a taco salad that comes served in a mason jar. I was hungry, so I got the Dr Faustus burger, and because I am a mad sick guts I got it Chow Down style, which means an extra patty. By Zeus’s epic beard, what a giant faceful, there were meat sweats happening, I will not lie, but those patties made up of chuck and brisket will keep a man up at night with their goodness and flavour. My only regret, and I’ve had a few, way more than Frankie, is that I was then too full to continue eating my way down the menu.

How often does a place of which you have high expectations meet or even exceed them? In my case very rarely. That said, I could sense being in Dr Faustus that the chance of me being able to say that I found such a place was strong. Before I explain why, let me clarify why I had high expectations. I was invited by «Salt Lick», who as I’m sure you know is someone who has been around the block, and so any place that he suggested was going to have a reputation to live up to. So, I made my way into Dr Faustus and my senses immediately took a hit. The bluesy music, the aroma to which my nostrils needed a minute to warm, and the colours and textures of the fit-out whipped them into submission. And the food hadn’t yet arrived! When asked what we wanted, I commanded that whatever Salt Lick was getting, I was too. It was a Vanilla Bourbon Piccolo with Glazed Bacon, and it became the icing on the cake — what an experience.

I’ve been back 3 times since the original review… and have had the following: BLT Taco Salad Milo Cereal Milk Vanilla Bourbon Piccolo with Sweet Bacon The BLT is just as awesome as it looks… the blend of bacon, onion, gruyère with a foie gras ‘smear’ is sooo legit that I’ve gotten it twice now. The pickle and beetroot on top is a nice touch as well. Make sure to have something sweet to pair it with because it can get pretty savoury. Any cereal milk is perfect… which speaking of, if you like Milo you can’t go wrong with the Milo cereal milk, you’ll know what to expect. With the Taco Salad you shake it like you’re making a cocktail to mix the sauce up. I recommend crushing the chips and mixing it in instead of trying to eat it like chips and dip. Stacks on stacks of delicious. The new star of the show is the Vanilla Bourbon Piccolo with Glazed Bacon. It’s a great pick me up with a kick. I mean, it just works! Bacon? Maker’s? Coffee? Sold!
