I occasionally have the Thursday night $ 15 steaks here. It is comfy and not crowded, but drinks have Australian prices and steaks aren’t that good. Tonight, my steak, ordered rare, was medium rare and stringy. It came with pepper sauce and ok chips. Elsewhere in Perth Metro area, steak night steaks are much better, rare when you request rare, and include salad in the price. I write most of my reviews to remind myself where I want to return, or not. Not here for food.

The Village Bar is a great spot for a good drink and a surprisingly sophisticated bar meal. The décor is comfortable and just the right amount of rustic and modern. I love the sun terrace, it gets a bit hot in the summers but the ivy wallpaper makes you feel like you actually are outside in a garden somewhere. I’ve come on a few occasions and love ordering all the share plates — the grilled haloumi with watermelon salad is to die for, the pumpkin saffron arancini balls are soft and tasty, and the meatballs are tender and flavourful. Great selection of beers on tap and they have a surprisingly big list of ginger beers. They’ve got great food deals on nearly every night of the week and I’d love to give them all a go! If you go there on a Friday afternoon you’ll probably be crowded out by a bunch of iiNet people as their office is just across the street. It’s crazy how this place does get crowded most evenings too, so get in before the bouncers man the doors!

Fun bar and restaurant in Subi, we went here after a Regal theatre outing, on a Saturday night and found it to be pumping, probably due to the $ 10 espresso martini specials on Sat nights! Food was delicious, nothing exotic, just all of your pub favourites. Prices and quality was what you’d expect in Perth. Definitely a solid choice in Subi if you’re looking for dinner and drinks.

Thanks to Sal for organising a fab UYE here, what a hidden gem! I had heard of The Village Bar but wasn’t sure where it was and when discovering the place I realised I’d been here quite a few years ago when it was a nightclub. I thoroughly enjoyed my Vietnamese pork belly slider, the flavours were divine and I devoured the chucky beer battered chips and a cider. The set up is great, so spacious and I love the exposed brick work on the bar. This place would be great for a function so many seating options available. Now that footy season is upon us, I’ll be spending a bit of time in Subi so will definitely be heading to The Village Bar to try out some more food options. I wouldn’t mind checking out their Specials nights too — Tuesday $ 10 Cheeseburgers, Wednesday $ 5 hot dogs, $ 5 beers and $ 5 vodkas and Thursday $ 15 steaks with beer battered chips!

I attended a UYE at Village Bar last weekend and very happy that this was suggested as the starting place for lunch as I had been wanting to try it for a while. Unfortunately at the moment Subiaco is pretty quiet on the weekends and Village Bar was no exception. It’s a bit sad as put Village Bar in another suburb in Perth and it would be heaving on a Sunday. The fit out is great, there is lots of tables and the bar has a fresh clean feel about it. Service was good, and the meny is extensive. On this particular occasion I ordered two sliders the pork belly and beef, both were delicious and particularly filling. There is a great range of on tap beer and an extensive wine list. I am looking forward to heading back to The Village Bar sometime soon to sample some more of the delicious looking menu. One thing to be said about a quieter bar is that it would be a great place to catch up with a large group if you are looking for a Sunday venue!

Visited The Village on the weekend with some other Unilocalers(UYE) and was beyond impressed. Atmosphere. There were two or three other groups there and for a Sunday afternoon it was eerily quiet. The plus side of this was the fast and efficient service that we received. Drinks. A pretty good variety of tap beers and reasonable drinks menu. No complaints. Food. Great menu. A decent variety of small dishes for sharing, share style platters and pub meals. I had the poutine($ 11) which is traditionally chips topped with gravy and cheese curds. Their version is decent — but no cheese curds, just some melted cheese. There was just the right amount though and the gravy was flavoursome. I also had a beef slider($ 8) which was packed full of flavour. When it first arrived, it didn’t look overly impressive but the beef was seasoned well and the chipotle sauce was just the right amount of heat with the tangy pickles and sharp cheddar cheese. This was enough food and I didn’t even finish my chips. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food and it was all presented beautifully. Service: Top notch. We were left to chat and browse the menu and told in advance we could split the bill(great!). All of our food was brought out at the same time and when we had someone join us later they ordered at the bar and the food arrived very promptly. Can’t really fault Village Bar at all and I will definitely be back to explore the menu and take advantage of their daily specials.

As others have said, The Village Bar does standard pub food, but of a higher standard than you’ll find at a suburban local. We visited on a quiet Tuesday evening, and the service was quick and attentive. It’s a large area, with a lot of feature brick, and a lot of tables, so I couldn’t imagine it being difficult to get a table unless you’re in a large group or it’s a really busy night. The food prices were a little on the higher side, but they did have a good selection of boutique beers on tap(like Feral and James Squire) and it is Subiaco after all. To compensate, the drinks were more reasonably priced than elsewhere and there was a range of daily food specials which sounded pretty good.

Went here for Sunday sesh catch ups. It’s rustic industrial décor is easy on the eye. The prices however are something to be desired, $ 7 for a pint of lemon lime and bitters yeowch! However Saturdays is espresso Martini day at only $ 10. I had the chicken salad and it was delish! Couldn’t get enough of the finger liking goodness! The staff were easy going and friendly, with quick service. I’d definitely go back for a Saturday night cheap Martini, but otherwise it’s a bit pricey for me!

Really nice, the food is great, service does its job well and atmosphere is really good. I’d highly recommend the butchers plate, a lot of variety and fillng wnough for two people. It isn’t overly cheap but not expensive either but it is was well worth it! Food was great!

Had an amazing seafood platter which was shared with my boyfriend. No food was left on the plate. squid was amazing and prawns so fresh! To add to this, $ 10 espresso martini on saturdays went down a treat. One of the best espresso martinis i have had.

Dinner here on a Tuesday night was pretty quiet, but I liked that. You walk in and it’s quite a nice venue. Natural lights against a backdrop of classic furniture. We were greeted by really friendly staff and their service really should be commended! For starters we had fried popcorn chicken, pork belly sliders and chorizos with some bread. Those sliders were delicious! Excellent of flavours on a beautiful brioche bun! Mains we had barramundi on sweet potato and asparagus, seafood platter, beef skewers, fried squid and a steak sandwich. All of the meals came in a reasonable time and were really tasty. The seafood basket is a pretty good size to be shared, although my sister made a real decent effort to finish the thing on her own! The space is very open and upon looking around, I could see how larger bookings could be quite well suited to some parts of the venue. Smaller intimate options were limited but because of the way they have set up the place you can still feel off in your own little area. I can never stop praising staff when it comes to my reviews, a good dining experience is 80% staff related in my opinion and the two staff members serving us this particular night did so so well. If it’s service and food like that every time you can bet I’ll be back!

Went on a Sunday afternoon… it was quiet, very quiet. It’s a large place and there’s something uncomfortable about being the only diners in a large restaurant. In saying that, the food was good, I had the pork and mash, and he the fish and chips, nothing exquisite, but did the job for a hearty meal on a rainy day. Just a shame there was no atmosphere.

My friends were raving about this place but I think it left a little to be desired for a dinner. DJ was too loud for 7pm and the dinner was not fantastic. They do however have a little more variety of on-tap beers then most bars… for the win!

We went here for a work lunch one Thursday and I was surprisingly impressed! My first time trying Poutine — chips, gravy and cheese… might sound a little gross but is was anything but. We couldn’t get enough! Crazy good! I had the roasted carrot, pumpkin, beetroot and quinoa salad which was yummy but a very small size for $ 17 — not that hard to beef it up with extra leaves and quinoa surely?! Will definitely be going back though — perfect for a midweek lunch.

Nice laid back atmosphere earlier on, but fun when the DJ starts cranking the tunes later in the night. They have a good range of wine by the glass, bottles of cider and a wide range of beer on tap to suit most tastes. The interior is nice but not over the top and is fun sitting at the high tables with stools. They have good daily specials — have visited on numerous occasions for their $ 10 curry night which is good value — they even give you two types of pickles/chutneys! The rest of the food is good pub fare, though the crab linguine is super chilli! Lots of variety to suit all tastes. Has a much younger crowd since it changed from Ess Bar and there is a good mix of people in their 20s and 30s now. After about 8pm on a Wednesday if you are over about 25 you might feel a bit old as it is student night! Is on our regular list and I’ll definitely be back.

Finding a contemporary, stylish and student friendly bar in Perth’s trendy western suburbs is no mean feat. The Village seems to have answered the call of students with standards, providing a great venue on Wednesdays when drinks are cheap, the music satisfactory and a general jovial atmosphere of well liquored indie youngens. This place is half an hour from where I live but I’m determined to make it my local! Just make sure you don’t prop yourself in front of the doors to the smoker’s area out back — they swing open and close all night and really serve no purpose in separating the non-smoking area from the smoking area. As I said, Wednesdays are the night to go if you’re on a budget, and for $ 4, it sure taste pretty damn good. The bar is well stocked with a range of boutique bottled beers, but best of all, GLUTENFREEGINGERBEERONTAP. Be still my heart(and liver!).

A marble-top bar, low ceilings and comfortable couches spaced widely amongst wooden tables and chairs, make for a classy and coolly contemporary interior.
Wednesdays from 8:00pm, the bar packs out with Western Suburbs kids for ‘Village People’ Wednesdays. It’s a young crowd of mostly uni students who haven’t got a 9 – 5 job to go to the next morning. Other days it’s a bit more older and corporate. On matters of food, the menu presents some enticing Modern Australian fare that includes smaller share plates, bar snacks and full-fledged mains. It’s better than incidental pub-grub eating and I’d go here for the food alone.
