Juancho’s

The meat had good flavor, as did the rice, but the salsa tasted more like ketchup and the corn tortillas were very flimsy… in definite need of a backup tortilla in order to hold ingredients. Don’t top up to add guac… it is like a spoonful for $ 2, definitely not worth the extra money. Not on my top list of Mexican/​Salvadorian food.

THE BEST SALVADORIAN AND MEXICAN FOOD IN PERTH
I have never had a bad meal here. They have an extensive menu considering the size of the stall.
The prices are super cheap. They have a range of authentic Mexican soft drinks and breakfast options.
The staff are friendly and always happy. This is one of the best stalls at the Subiaco markets and I hope when the markets disappear or relocate Juancho’s can find a new home.
If you have never tried the food here make sure you pop down one weekend before the markets are lost forever!

My tip, for lunch grab the huevos estrellados. In a world of trendy mexican with fancy ingredients, these el salvadorians keep it simple and delicious. Highly recommended for no-​frills, delicious and cheap market eats. breakfast = ~$ 9 – 14.

I’m no good at deciding what to eat at the best of times, so eating at the Subiaco Markets can turn into a lengthy affair for me. Standing in a circle of food outlets, watching different dishes from all over the world being brought out on all sides, being surrounded by delicious smells — how the hell can I possibly ever decide?! Still, I invariably do in the end, and on my most recent visit I just couldn’t resist the fajitas and burritos I saw being zipped around the food court. Where were they coming from? Ah, Juancho’s! I made a beeline for the Mexican stall and ordered the beef fajitas. I didn’t have to wait long before they were brought out. Then — I feasted. They tasted divine to my poor hungover stomach. For $ 10 it was a generous portion, served with rice and the MOST delicious salsa. I’d just like to reiterate how delicious the salsa was — VERY. I was also relieved to find that they put the sour cream on the side rather than in the fajitas, making it easy to avoid for a sour cream hater such as myself. Still, for the much more plentiful sour cream lovers, it’s an easy feat to put it into the fajitas where it truly belongs. All in all, a most tasty and satisfying meal, and the perfect sustenance for a busy market-​shopping trip.
