Road To Goa

Actually its in a nondescript suburban shopping centre in Snives on the Road to the Northern Beaches. 4 stars because its on the north shore and there is almost no competition, and we need every decent restaurant we’ve got. Its not going to set the world on fire but it is way up scale from the standard Butter Chicken ‘burb Indian.
Chicken Xacuti is not a fake scrabble word but a flavoursome Goan Chook curry made from the gods of flavour — cumin and tamarind. Its very good. So is Lamb Margao a mild dish — mint, coriander and … cashews, which are to me what donuts are to Homer. NB they are blended into the curry.
The owner and family are ever present which ensures things hum along nicely.
It started out at Newport about five or six years ago maybe more — they kept the name after the move which just goes to show all roads actually lead to Goa.

Not being a huge fan of Indian food, I was hesitant to go to Road to Goa. But, as the sign clearly points out, this is Goan Indian food. Which is certainly done differently to Indian food I’ve eaten before. It’s all really yummy — lots of spices that make the always-​crowded restaurant smell absolutely delicious. While I’m a lover of everything that they do, special props to the cauliflower Manchooran dish — ah-​mazing!
You can take all your friends to Road to Goa; from the one who insists on everything being covered in sambal olek to the one who won’t eat anything with sweet chili on board, everyone can find a dish to their taste!
The actual restaurant is nothing special, but the food certainly is. The owners and staff are also incredibly nice, and always take the time to see how you’ve enjoyed yourself. There’s a car park, and also a conveniently located Liquorland right next door. The key ingredients for a great dinner are all there!

Road to Goa is a great restaurant for family dinners or special occasions. The restaurant is licensed, with BYO is an option and a bottle shop next door to the restaurant. The venue is not your average Indian restaurant, with original and unique dishes available on the menu. Plenty of seafood dishes feature on the menu with flavours abundant. Spices are aplenty and every dish is appetising.
Architecturally, the restaurant’s design is somewhat limited but the strong flavours will have you returning soon enough! The owner has been running the restaurant for a number of years and has many loyal customers. Customers have the choice of outdoor or indoor dining, weather permitted. For a suburban restaurant– Road to Goa doesn’t get any better! Sample the Manchooran dish, which consists of crispy cauliflower coated with sweet chilli sauce.
The menu has chilli images next to dishes which are very hot. This is a real advantage, as anticipating the level of hotness in new dishes can be difficult. A number of vegetarian dishes are also available. Road to Goa will deliver when orders are over $ 30.
