Even on vacation I seem to spend a fair amount of time doing the«hunting and gathering» thing for the family. Being a city boy, I usually find a good food market to do my «gathering» and skip the whole«hunting» part altogether. Found this place about an hour after our arrival in Brisbane and, frankly, have been back here no less than 4 – 5 times is less than three days. I guess when you travel with a teenage boy and twin 4 yr olds, you spend most of your time at the grocery store buying drinks, snacks, meals, souvenirs(Vegemite), etc. Relatively small by U.S. Standards, but if you live in a city where space is at a premium, it’s to be expected. VERY clean and organized. Prices are pretty fair, and I’ve noticed they offer some decent sale prices as well. The fruits and veggies were excellent. The staff were helpful, although since I mainly used their«self check-out» my interaction with humans was limited. .. However, one of the clerks did smile at me, or was it a smirk??? I’m sure I’ll be back numerous times before we leave.

Compared to the Safeways in Melbourne, I’ve got to say that this store is clean and has a large fresh food department. One thing that I did feel was missed was self check outs. I thought Brisbane was doing this already!

Woolworths at Spring Hill is a convenient location if, like me, you’re travelling North out of the CBD and need to stop at a supermarket on the way home. This woolies isn’t as big as your suburb supermarkets, but I can’t actually pick what they don’t have. There’s not a bakery there and the deli isn’t very big, but they still of course have fresh bread and roast chickens. Last time I went the guy who served me was good. A little overly chatty but was still efficient and friendly. If I need a few items, not a whole shop, but still want to head to woolies(and am on the way home from work) this is where I’ll head to. Oh, by the way there’s a few parks out the front but there’s also a big undercover section underneath.
