Oh pretty paper things. I know I have little use for much of your pretty paper wares, but gosh darnnit you make me want to take up a hobby where I would. Throwing events for a dotcom doesn’t give you much opportunity for hand written invitations, but a girl can dream. If you are making invitations, scrapbooks or maybe 1000 paper cranes, your first stop should be Paperpoint. If you don’t have any crafty projects coming up, they also stock a great range of super useful stationary items like books, notepads, pens, wrapping paper and gift cards. I come here for every birthday occasion to pick out a unique card that contains a little more thought than the average supermarket hallmark choice. Or to daydream about what I might do with an office full of coloured paper and ribbons.

If you’re a lover of all things paper, cards, notebooks and just general stationery, then this is the place for you. You might need to hide your credit card as somehow things just get added to your shopping basket and somehow the bill is so very high. If you need paper for invitations, they have a wide range of colours and different textured paper, along with matching envelopes. They stock a heap of different moleskin items, not just notebooks but folders and even bags. Definitely a little more pricey but it is top quality and worth it if you are trying to look really professional. They also have another store in South Melbourne which is a little bigger.

Now and then I daydream about hosting parties purely so that I can make beautiful paper invitations for it. Without doubt, I definitely have a thing for stationery. You know — paper, pens, little note books, unusual envelopes… I’m sure there’s more concerning things to be obsessed with but I really really REALLY like stationery. I come to Paperpoint when I actually need an invitation to send or a special birthday card. And okay, I admit it, sometimes I just come to smell the paper and walk up and down the aisles of coloured envelopes. I’m allowed to have a happy place, okay?

This is the kind of place an enthusiastic amateur could drop a whole load of cash in. Situated in the centre of Melbourne’s design community(more or less), it’s all about the paper Seriously. There’s probably around a hundred different types of paper, and they have the brand name and GSM(grains per square metre, I assume) for every single one of them. Good range of wrapping paper, too, along with a few diaries and the like.

One of those brilliant paper shops that makes you feel creative once you step inside. Paperpoint has the advantage of being right next to Pearl Café so it immediately has a very up market feel. But inside, the quiet style and multitude of paper products will take over. If you love Moleskin notebooks, then you have to check out the chic range of Moleskin travel bags at Paperpoint. It also carries a huge range of notebooks, journals, agendas, diraries, sketch pads and jotter books. If you’re looking for unique gift cards then Paperpoint will be the ideal place for you. Check out the wide range of avant garde greeting cards and calendars. It also carries a wide range of designer paper from recycled to metallic to translucent, in a variety of sizes. But my all time favourite paper has got to be the pretty flocked varieties that feel like luxurious velvet in your hands.
