Visited the whistling kite Monday night for dinner, being a Monday I wasn’t expecting it to be that buisy but the majority of the inside tables were full as well as a few groups outside. I have been there a few times for drinks and once for a meal. Since my last visit they have changed the menu so was looking forward to the new selections. The menu had a great selection of options and at reasonable prices. The wait staff were knowledgeable of the menu offering me my choice as one of the specials a little bit smaller than the main menu choice but saving me a bit of money. The food was reasonable quick out of the kitchen. We had on order a beef burger, crab pasta, tomato pizza, Hungarian pizza(my wife’s choice) and I had the French style mussels. The mussels where well cooked and the flavour was well balanced, the sour dough bread accompanied the dish superbly. My only issue was that I would have rathered the sauce be a little thicker, I ended up de-shelling the mussels and asking for a spoon and eating it like a soup I would have preferred to use the shells and a fork to eat the dish but the sauce wasn’t thick enough to coat the shells. I also had a slice of my wife’s pizza it was delicious. Normally she doesn’t eat that much but she devoured all but the one slice. It was a great balance of toppings and cheese. Toppings were Prosciutto, Hungarian salami, ham and mozzarella I was expecting it to be rather salty but the chef did a good balance of flavour without over doing it. All other guests seamed happy with their choices. My mate who chose the crab pasta though it looked small when it arrived but was surprised by how filling it was. The dinning room was well layed out with enough room to comfortable move around. The décor was nicely chosen but I feel it was a little dark. I also found that the toilet flooring was very slippery, but the facilities were clean and didn’t smell. It was a lovely relaxing dinner gerat company, great food, supurb staff and fantastic atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and will return to try more of there dishes.

I’ve been to the Whistling Kite a few times now and I’m yet to be disappointed. I find it a great venue with lots of space and it makes use of the beautiful breeze that comes in off the ocean with the outside area leading inside with large doors. The food is good as well, with a fair range available and the prices not through the roof.

For a nice quite drink it’s pretty good. We went in the daytime so I don’t know much about the night scene but will rock down there sometime.

The Whistling Kite is a great local pub. The atmosphere is great with an area available for private parties(like a vip room) Awesome selection of drinks and the restaurant was not very expensive with great quality food. Its a no hassle easy option for a drink and meal. Two thumbs up.
