Wonderful local pub with water views. Friendly staff, but tend to be young and inexperienced in customer service. I have eaten here several times. Food is generally very good ‘pub food’, with GF and healthy options available, but being overpriced makes what is offered a bit disappointing and not best value for money. For a quick drink — it is a choice spot and you can usually find a place to perch. For a family dinner, I recommend booking ahead on busy days. There is a cocktail menu — gotta look hard for it though. The jam jar cocktails are fun, and the proper cocktails are well done and reasonably priced. The beer on tap changes from time to time, with generic standard offerings and one or two ‘upmarket’ ales(eg: Yenda, Fat Yak) Semi dog-friendly in that there is a very small garden/landscaped patch in which to tether the dog during meal service hours and if you are lucky you can snag a seat beside this patch to sit with poochie. Lucky for us, we have a small dog. This pub is closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. I suspect it closes for most public holidays. That forces us to go elsewhere when we want a ‘day off’ and are looking for a relaxing pub.

I came here on a Saturday with my family at around 11.30(service time) placed my order straight away and ordered drinks. The atmosphere was nice, a few people around and many tables reserved, I felt comfortable. Entrees came out promptly and were excellent. We talked and talked and drank and talked. Then some one 45 mins later asked where the mains were. A quick comment to the waitress and a answer on the way. Fifteen minutes later we received the meals with apologies and extras fries. Too long a wait but great food. The staff here seen to be a little slow at customer service. Mainly seafood dishes here and proberly better off giving the local fish n chips shop a try.

Average experience and food Kids meals were lame and the garnish’s looked a week old Was basically dumped on a table but our son liked it because there were some old toys. If we go back hopefully that was an unfortunate experience

Disappointed. No seafood that day as it all went off due to a broken fridge. Chicken burger was dull. Kids chicken nuggets are packaged. Steak tasted like it was floating in water before cooked. Most ciders on the menu are no longer stocked. Not much variety on red wine either. Staff did however help get a colouring book early for our child. Apart from that it’s overrated

We decided that a great way to spend the end of the first day of 2014 was sharing some fish and chips by the seaside close to home. We settled on either Sandgate or Shorncliffe but as we passed the local fish and chip shops we were put off by the 10 deep queues. We noticed the Full Moon Hotel, which is neslted along the beach road, high on a cliff overlooking the water and bushland. We were lucky enough to snag a table with a view, although the table wasn’t clean it seemed a better prospect than being sandwiched amongst the other diners without a view. The tables are set very close together to the point where I can tell you the business of all the diners who sat near us. The menu is a little expensive for what I would consider to be bistro style food. We settled on the beer battered Fish and Chips for twenty-one bucks a plate. It was well presented and tasted fresh but it didn’t stand out from any other fish and chip plate I have had in the past. The customer service was friendly but in a superficial kind of way, I didn’t feel like my experience was really all that important to them. It was nice to be able to walk off the stodgy fish and chips along the boardwalk afterwards. Good option if all the fish and chip shops are closed or too busy.

Food was 7⁄10 fish was great but special was really small. Coronas had no lime. Service was 7.5÷10. View is great over the bay and of a night the lights look beautiful. Parking was a plus. Recent experiences have improved my opinion. They have improved service and take more care with food. It’s looking up.

I’ve never had a good eating experience here. Everything is way too expensive, poorly cooked or simply not what was ordered. There’s no food menus on the tables and you have to go hunting to find them. Ordering is at a counter which is separate to the bar, so you will need to pay multiple times, and the orders take forever to be brought to the table.

Overrated and way over priced! The meals are average but what they charge you for them certainly isn’t. If it were not for the view then they really wouldn’t have anything going for them.

We paid quite a bit for our Melbourne Cup seafood buffet here but it was fantastic and the price was pretty standard for that day of the year. Everything was very fresh and there was a seemingly neverending supply of oysters, crabs and prawns, lovely salads, cuts of roast beef and chicken and crusty fresh bread. The desserts were pretty lush too but who had room for those? We had bubbles and a few special cocktails and I thought the staff were very friendly and moved the crowd along in a friendly and efficient way, which is essential when you have a full house and a buffet… A good thing happened. We won a seafood platter for two so we did what I’d been wanting to do for ages — came back with a family group for dinner on a full moon night, when the big gun telescopes from the Wappa Falls Astronomical Observatory in Yandina are set up outside the hotel. For gold coin donations you can see some fantastic planets and constellations. What a great idea! We had a lovely meal and got up close to the stars — excellent!

This place is usually packed to the brim(outside tables too) on the weekends because everyone wants to go here. You may feel a little out of place if you’re asian like I am because everyone isn’t… but the food there and the service is really fast and good. We didn’t have a booking my husband and I and they managed to squeeze both of us and 2 young kids on an outside table just as we arrived and someone was leaving so we were lucky… because walking through the place, it was sardine packed. It took a while to order our food because the line was pretty long too. They recently went through a bit of a renovation, but with the live music and water views you can’t really do this place wrong on a Friday to Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere is pretty friendly, inside a little bit sophisticated but the fish and chips were really fresh as you would expect it to be with so many other fish and chip places around. There were a lot of people ordering the pasta too. They made a pretty nice lemon lime and bitters too. My only complaint was that the price for the fish and chips was a bit expensive for the tiny bit of fish I got! But it was so fresh and nice I wanted more!

With nice view of the water from their outdoor veranda this bay-side bar and bistro is a pleasant place for a lunch with friends. Live music on a Sunday, with a band downstairs and a DJ on the upper-level, make it a popular place for a weekend session. I docked in here on one such Sunday with food(not drink) on my mind. I was catching up with friends visiting from interstate, who were staying around the area. After a long train ride, I had developed quite an appetite. I opted for the ‘Gourmet burger’, made of ground beef and pork, cheese, bacon, tomato and supposedly ‘chilli’ fried onions(I couldn’t taste much chilli). It was a pretty tasty burger but could have benefited from some lettuce or other greens I reckon. A friend’s chicken burger was a bit dry, owing to the cut being breast, and could have benefited from something like avocado to overcome the dryness. Another mate’s pork chop was a little burnt and added to these woes, the food took 40 minutes to come out. But all in all the food was pretty good and the setting made for a very pleasant place to sit and digest.
