We decided to drop in to Outback Jack’s for a late lunch, early dinner as we were in the area and had an Entertainment Book voucher to use. It was empty when we arrived but that was understandable because of the time. We were greeted very politely and told we could pick wherever we liked to sit so chose a window seat. My husband ordered the Waygu burger and I decided to choose two entrees, the Calamari and the chips covered in cheese and bacon. When they arrived the plates were enormous so if you are going for bulk you will be satisfied. However that’s the best I can say about the meal. The chips were soggy and the calamari was nearly a centimetre thick, although it had been tenderised. Overall the meal was less than ordinary and if we didn’t have the voucher I would have been annoyed at the cost. I must say the one standout was the service.

First time i went after they opened i thought it was the best place ever, am a bit of a seafood lover so i tend to go with the creamy garlic prawn nearly everytime i go but the last time i went will be the last time i order that, the rice was undercooked, prawns could have been cooked a bit better and the creamy garlic sauce was near on cold, had some of my daughters steak it was delicious, she also enjoyed it, son loved the spaghetti bolognaise and partner liked his steak and ribs… next time i wont be getting the prawns but definately a steak

Nowhere near as good as the ones in Freo and northies! I’m a country gal at heart, so i get pretty excited to dine anywhere with the word ‘outback’ in the title. Outback jacks is actually pretty amazing, especially if you’re dining with a crew who aren’t into anything exotic. They give you a lot of bang for your buck, and are super kid friendly(this is either a huge plus or a huge minus, depending on who you are), and they play country tunes in their bathrooms — hooray! The Rockingham OBJ’s was big loud and busy, and the staff were all quite young and clearly still training up. Not so good when it’s a hectic Saturday night. I noticed the food was considerably worse in comparison to the other OBJ’s I’ve been to over the years– but hey, this is Rockingham we’re talking about… First major complaint — We got our first course pretty quick but when my dessert got to the table the ice cream was half melted! The server noticed and just said ‘sorry, its gone runny, hope that’s ok’ — hmmm! No offer of a replacement? It was also hard to hold a conversation here, so I wouldn’t recommend it for an intimate date. I also wouldn’t recommend it if you’re a vegetarian because there was only one option! Second major complaint — they don’t wear cowboy hats here. Major let down. This place is definitely big on quantity, but lets itself down where quality is concerned. Basically, OBJs is for stuffing your face. If you’re a keen meat-lover step inside. But don’t expect anything out of the ordinary — the kangaroo burger is about as exotic as it gets!
