Great lil $ 8 chicken parma and pot lunch special. Order at the bar and the cook will bring the food to your table. Silverware and ketchup is located at the end of the bar. If its NFL football season the game will most likely be on. Big screen is located outside.

As far as an outer suburban pub goes, The Lager Bar at the Manhattan isn’t half bad. There’s a huge screen to watch the footy in a large outdoor courtyard that’s heated in the cooler months. Drinks and pub grub are well priced and the atmosphere is friendly. Live music, pool tables and as per most venues a TAB are also on offer. Not a bad local!

This is a review of The Manhattan’s all you can eat buffet. The suburbs seem the place to have a good, old fashioned Sunday-roast. With a smattering of basic cuisine options to choose from,(roasts, pasta, kids items, cliché chinese, desserts) there’s something for everyone. You really can’t go wrong for $ 20 a head«all you can eat» buffet. We’ve been back a few times and haven’t been disappointed and always left with a full belly. This place attracts the old fogies, but they should all be gone and asleep by 7PM. Be warned that some linger and are guilty of some«buffet-party-fouls.» For example, I horrifically witnessed one old woman skimming the custard off the trifle at the dessert bar, leaving it tainted and custard-less for patrons seeking it out later. That aside, it’s family friendly, has a discounted entry for children, and since there are pokies on the other side of the building, security by the entrance. You’ll know you’re at the right place by the giant, cheesy statue of liberty out front. **Note that drinks are not included with the buffet price and there’s a side bar to order soda, beer or spirits. Though there are«help yourself» water glasses next to the drinks bar if that’s all you require.

It seems every suburb in Melbourne has one of these megaplexes nowadays. The Manhattan Hotel is an all in one Hotel that includes an all-you-can-eat buffet, pokie machines in a gaming room, a TAB or two, numerous function rooms, a boardroom, kids play area to throw the kids and a beer garden out the back. The Manhattan also has 12 motel rooms on offer if your style is to stay the night in a room with views of an industrial estate and freeway. As soulless as these Hotel may feel, they are always busy. Whether it’s the hordes of gamblers that come to throw their money away, or families who require play room while the parent seat and drink, The Manhattan know their target market, and caters to their every need. I’ve had a few beers in the outdoor beer garden out back, and although it doesn’t rate as highly as many closer to the city, they have beer on tap, pool tables and a bar menu that does the trick. Also acting as a live music venue form time to time, I nearly crashed my car when driving past the other day and saw the Vanilla Ice himself would be appearing here!
