We have coffee movement, so it’s about time for tea to start its own movement in Sydney. Yes, TEAIS definitely IN! With The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar in the scene, now we have a dedicated tea specialist. So down the Rabbit Hole I went, bright airy space with plenty of natural light, clean décor and splash of yellow to brighten the mood. Amazing lighting sculpture made of tea bags atop the Tea sampling table at the centre of the café and gold cuttleries complete the whole look. All the foods are infused with their teas. From their lunch menus through to their sweets and deserts. Menus are seasonal and created to complement the teas they currently have on season. At the time I went, it was around Valentine and it was summer. I had the Raspberry and Chocolate Fondant, it was gooey in the middle with a moist chocolate cake on the outside and buttery icing mildly infused with tea. I feel like I’d died and gone to heavan, «fondant» heaven! The Lavender Shortbread looked so pretty with edible flowers. And the Chai Chocolate Brownie, a chocolate brownie infused with(you guessed it!) Chai tasted amazing. Then their teas, oh my! They’re serious about their teas. They have them mixed with milk(tea lattes), plain, shots, sparkling iced tea on tap, tea mocktails, you name it! I had their Ginger Snap Tea brewed to perfection and decided to buy their Summer Fling to brew at home. My kids tried the Fruit Salad Frappes. You can ask the friendly staff what Sparkling Iced Tea they have on tap. I also tried the Ruby Zing Mojito Tea Mocktail, with Ruby Zing Tea, watermelon and mint, great drink on a hot summer day! There’s a retail area where you can smell, sample and buy their tea leaves and pots to brew at home. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, happy to answer all your tea questions. With great teas, amazing food and friendly service, no question I would go down The Rabbit hole again!

It was a shame to come here on a hot, humid day — the menu vastly favours tea served hot(with a very extensive selection). I selected a ‘tea cocktail’, a blended strawberry frappé drink, which tasted delicious. The food menu incorporates tea to some extent in all dishes(for some it’s an element of the sauce). The ‘topped toast’ with avocado and edamame was a well-presented, pleasant diversion from the usual smashed avo and was a good light breakfast — but was perhaps not great value for money at $ 14. Would love to make a return when the weather cools. The space feels quite sophisticated for Redfern.

What a find. I’ve heard of the new tea place in Redfern however it was totally unexpected to stumble across this on a rainy Saturday. Inside the décor is clean, bright and very welcoming. There are their special teas on display plus some to taste(bonus!!). The staff are extremely friendly and happy to answer any questions. Unfortunately we weren’t very hungry as their food menu looks very interesting. Out of the box items which shows the uniqueness of infusing food with tea plus some innovations. We had their chocolate chai cake which was on their display area which was brimming with yummy goodies. The cake was ok — a little too dry. Would suggest the orange and almond cake instead — very moist! Will be back to try their brunch!
