So when a catch up for coffee turned into a cocktail and wine instead, I was ever so glad my friend(a Redfern local) brought me here! Great vibe, good selection of drinks — and yes they have cocktails, full food menu or drink accompaniments — the antipasto platter was delish, I even tried artichoke and liked it… Oh and they have great pickled onions in the platter — really great! I will definitely be back!

Arcadian liquor was one of my best discoveries of late. I lived in Redfern for a few months before I even realised it existed! It is a very cool, hip small bar that has a great atmosphere! The prices are standard and they offer a restricted food menu(mostly toasted sandwhiches). The walls are full of eclectic nick nacks which compliment the kitchen, homely feel of the place. It can get a little loud inside but normal conversations can still be heard without yelling. The bathrooms are up a pretty steep set of stairs, so not great for the disabled. But at the top of the stairs there is a giant concrete penis. So it’s well worth yhe climb!

This is a nice place to grab a drink. It has a nice beer garden out the back and warm atmosphere inside. The staff are friendly and the food and drinks, while not exactly cheap, won’t break the bank. This place is pretty hipster, but even if that’s not your scene you won’t feel out of place.

I don’t often come to this part of town but I’m glad I did and I’m glad I was shown Arcadia Liquors. A very chill little bar that is perfect to just drop in to for a bear or a wine. It’s very kitschy with amazing tapestries in the bathroom and fairy lights all through the outdoor courtyard, which I feel would be a great place to sit on a summer afternoon. It’s a shame they don’t do substantial food cause they could have you there all night, but the toasties and the antipasto platters are enough to keep you going until you need something a little more for dinner. This place has a great vibe, really friendly staff who will chew your ear off if you let them and relaxing booths in the corner to really sink in to and enjoy your wine!

If you’re wondering where all of the Alexandria Christmas Warehouses’ fairy lights went, the answer is the Arcadia Liquors courtyard. Varieties of hanging plant adorn a rustic cat walk over the back courtyard, bringing a hint of clean simple living to this inner-city suburban hipster dive. Craft beers flow from steins and generously gin-y G&Ts are testament to the customer first, no holds barred attitude of the establishment. Local flavours win out over beer conglomerates and the independent brewer reigns supreme. Arcadia is a shining beacon of the rebirth of Redfern village and the rise of the refreshingly abstract craft beer industry. Toot on, Arcadia. Toot on.

Well well well. Wellity wellity wellity. Look what snuck up in Redfern that I only got to the other night, but which the locals are all over and have been for a while? Arcadia is urrthang you want from a small suburban bar. Mega-friendly staff who like laughing with punters almost as much as they like slinging those selfsame punters tons of booze. Bar inside, schweet outdoor covered patio bit out back, and a huge plaster penis outside the bathrooms upstairs. Seriously, whatever giant that thing fell off was *packing*, man. Sure it kind of looks a bit weird and mummified, but hey, whatchu gonna do. Speaking of bathrooms — the unmarked brown door out the back leads to the find of the evening: a sensationally large, clean, well-appointed gourmet dunny that has ruined all other bathrooms for me forever. This is the toilet Elvis died on. It’s better than my bathroom at home. I wouldn’t have left, only people would have wondered what I was doing in there.

Great small bar in Redfern. Look for it next to the Vietnamese bakery. Pints of local beer and a good vibe. You can even get take-out Chinese ordered from across the road and bring it in!

I like a good swear word, when used appropriately. And today I say FUCKYEAH, ARCADIA. Had a killer night at Arcadia — this is the best kind of local bar. Friendly staff(my friend loves that all the male staff have hipster beards), excellent beer on tap, lots of wine choice, room to move, awesome tunes, and most importantly, the crowd is really chilled and friendly(that’s code for ‘the poser douchebags haven’t found it yet, so please don’t tell them’). Bonus points for the fact we could order chinese takeaway from Wah Fung across the street and have it delivered to the bar. Double bonus points(are you keeping score?) for the rad tunes later in the night that got everyone up dancing. This is definitely a new local favourite, so please don’t tell people about it and ruin it! Thanks.

Arcadia opened last Friday, and it’s already apparent that these guys are pros. Pros with beards. One is quiet, one of them never stops talking. He used to run The Old Fitz in Woolloomooloo. After several months of hammering shit together and an injury or two, these two fellas have found their Arcadia, and joined the Sydney small bar scene. Arcadia is right near that really ugly sculpture on the corner of Redfern & Regent. When you walk in, the light is warm(maybe a little too bright?) and the place is decked out delightfully: exposed bricks, rustic metal chairs, stunning glass mirrors(from Rozelle markets), and a back patio area full of well tended plants. It’s a gorgeous garden space, and yes, this does provide a spot for smokers. The bar itself is large & wooden), with the bar stools just a tiny bit too low. Like The Dock nearby, this is a place where it’s fine to linger at the bar all night, chatting with the owners. It’s a spacious place, and we spotted an upstairs — though didn’t venture up there on this visit. There are 2 beers on tap(Coopers & a crisp German Larger of some description), and right now they’ve printed up their wine list, with the cocktail menu still in the works. Actually that’s quite good because you can ask the guys for classic cocktails & they’re happy to oblige(at approx $ 12, depending on what you order). The Old Fashioneds were excellent, and mixed with precision & humour. You can order food from Wah Fung(across the road) and eat it in the bar, and they’d probably let you bring in a Vietnamese roll from that little place nearby. It’s pretty laid back. All in all, this place is excellent, and will most likely get rather busy on weekends. I almost wanted to give it a bad review just so we can keep it to ourselves.
