Cat’s Whiskers Cafe and Driscoll Emporium

I like the little arcades around this area of Redcliffe. Walking down them always brings a surprise out. One of the good ones is the Cat’s Whiskers, a café thatalso does light meals and cakes. I came across this place wandering around with my wife and we thought we might stop in.
We ordered a BLT, a cake and two coffees to share. As we waited we noticed some promotional material for a business called Driscoll’s Emporium. We looked at some of the corsages and some of the flower arrangement that was on offer and thought this would be a good place to suggest to a couple we knew who were planning on getting married.
When our food came out both items smelled ready to eat. The BLT however wasn’t as moorish as I’d homed for, it looked to have been made with stock standard pantry supplies. On the other hand the Chocolate cake was thick and delicious.
An interesting concept for a café that worked and failed on different levels.
