King Street is Perth’s answer to Rodeo Drive. More and more high end brands such as Gucci and Prada are opening up in this tiny 2 block cobblestone street. It’s certainly Perth’s luxury retail strip. There’s definitely a European feel to the street, you can almost imagine you’re not in Perth. Some of my favourite places; Head Studio, Billie & Rose and Zomp all call this street home. Don’t be afraid to check the street out, there are a heap of stores that aren’t ridiculously expensive where you can find some beautiful stuff.

King Street is possibly the most exclusive, fickle street that I have stumbled onto in my entire time in Perth. Basically, just off from the city drag connecting Wellington Street with Hay Street it is as alluring as it is equally and oppositely exclusive. This strip is a combination of «business suppliers» and trendy brands, the two, chalk and cheese to the public and I had an uncomfortable experience as a novice traveller on one occasion that I still remember vividly. Not acknowledging(or perhaps refusing to accept) that I was not welcome in some shops and felt very much like Julia Roberts in «Pretty Woman» with shop«assistants» coming just short of physically pushing me out of their shops! It would be a shame to avoid this strip completely as amidst these suppliers«not for the public» are a selection of really trendy and well priced boutiques with some wicked, fresh styles. As a rule of thumb for those green to King Street, heading up towards Hay, «KEEPLEFT» and if a shop does catch your eye and you’re unsure, be brave– you always have the option to bluff but for extra browsing time, come prepared with a business card!
