Mundaring weir, un endroit incontournable quand on passé pas loin. Au début du parc de Kalamunda, Mundaring Weir est un réservoir et un immense barrage. Vous le repérer rapidement car sur le route qui vous mèné jusqu’à ce magique endroit, vous croisez des tuyaux très très très gros et blanc, en fait il suffit de les suivre, et ça va vous mener droit à Mundaring Weir. D’abord, vous arrivez au parking, il faut rouler très très lentement car des kangourous sont en liberté, du coup ça fait un peu parc, vous vous arrêtez avec votre voiture pour prendre en photo les kangourous à travers la fenêtre . Et là, vous êtes hors de tout, pas un bruit de voiture, juste les oiseaux, le vent, la chaleur… Vous essayez de vous rapprocher des kangourous, vous entendez les perroquets, vous vous asseyez sur les installations, vous pouvez même faire un barbecue, tout est prévu. Et une fois que vous avez assez pris de photos, vous descendez jusqu’au réservoir, et là: magie ! Un grand pont sur le barrage vous permet de traverser le réservoir, vous pouvez admirer l’eau totalement calme, aux multiples nuances de bleu. Et cette magnifique étendue… J’ai bien du rester 30mn a regarder ce paysage magnifique avant de me dire«il faut absolument que je prenne une photo» ! Vous pouvez descendre, il y a un musée, commencer un trail, ou juste flâner et profiter de cet instant de calme total. Quel magnifique endroit ! Parfait pour un piqué nique en famille !

Situated just a couple of minutes out of Mundaring, the Weir is the perfect spot to explore. From walking over the bridge across the weir, picnicking in the rose garden or playing in the playground, many hours can be spent here. The Weir is amazing and the story behind it is very interesting. Well worth a look!

We took my son out to Mundaring Weir this afternoon and it was rather pleasant. He’d wanted to see where tap water comes from and as the weir is one of the water sources for Perth, we took him out there. After taking a pleasant stroll across the top of the weir, we found a conveniently located picnic area with shady tables and a barbecue. A pleasant breeze wafted by. We ran out of things to do pretty quickly here but it was a nice drive out and there are a wide variety of places to stop to check out local handicrafts, consume beer or rock out with some devonshire tea on the way home, if any of those are your thing. When the water level is particularly high, the weir overflows; I remember seeing this when I was about eight years old but I think there may be too many people using Perth’s tap water supply for this to happen very regularly anymore. That said, it’s probably best to check this place out after heavy rains just in case.
