Fish Haven is a huge aquarium store, with more tanks and varieties than any other place I can think of in Adelaide — I’d give them an extra star, because I *am* a fan, but I’m also saddened to see ‘painted’ fish in their livestock, fish that have been artificially coloured with dye injections. As a process that’s been condemned as animal cruelty by most of the trade, I’m amazed that a store with such an affinity for fish is supporting that side of the industry. Putting those fish aside, this is a brilliant destination for marines, coldies and tropicals. You don’t find some of the ‘niche’ fish I’ve mentioned in some other reviews, but you will find a good range of healthy livestock covering most everything hobbyists tend to keep in their tanks. You’ll also find a huge range of tanks and cabinets — they can get customs made for specific needs, but realistically almost everyone will find a tank to suit here. Compared to some stores who specialise in supporting planted tank hobbyists, there’s not quite the depth in lighting units and the like, but there are many tanks ‘ready to go’ to make up for it. Plenty of parking, good staff that know their stuff — if they’d just lose the painted fish it’d be brilliant.
