Cool pub with an interesting half finished fit out, good place to catch a footy game although be warned tvs are ceiling mounted so your going to be craning your neck and we’re only talking 32 inchers here so its no sports bar. Also very hand for a pre SFS drink. Great selection of beers including bottled and draught varieties, can fill out with Uni students, but it normally has a great atmosphere well worth a visit, best pub on the block.

A barebones pub by any metric, the Rose, Shamrock, And Thistle is a perfect last stop on your evening, the place where you have that one last drink and you take that final sip and place the glass on the table. You look at it and think«Yeah, I just wanna be asleep in a bed right now». Which is not to say that this pub is unpleasant: it’s just basic, in terms of the décor and the general vibe. But sometimes, that’s all you need. And when contrasted with the Paddington Inn and Fringe Bar, this place is generally a little quieter and the street-front doors let in a cool breeze to take the edge off the sweltering summer nights. Simple, but it gets the job done.

Not exactly Paddington’s trendiest pub, but not the worst place in the world to come for a drink. And there food isn’t too bad either. I’m all for pubs that don’t fit in the hipster mould that seems to some prominent at the moment, but I wouldn’t say this is really my ideal choice for a night out. To be fair to it, it looks like it should be a lot dingier than it actually is and it’s pretty good value for money, something that Paddington isn’t particularly well known for! It’s definitely got the old-school, tiled look to it, but that’s not really a rarity in Sydney. Check it out if you fancy an unpretentious bevvy and a half-decent meal!

A cool old-school pub on a street corner. Sydney probably doesn’t have enough of these. … Or wait, maybe it does. I guess their an all-time favourite, but still they’re everywhere. This one feels quite old-fashioned when you walk in, good old-fashioned stools and chairs, and some couches in the corner, the place has a light and earthy colouring, but that sort of shows ts age. A quiet bar, but then again, right now it is the middle of the day on a Tuesday. The menu was cool, you can eat for between $ 15 and $ 25, which is standard for a pub meal. What it comes down to I guess, and this may be harsh, but unless this one is the closest to you, I’m not sure that there is a big reason to go out of your way to be there. A bit ordinary, perhaps? But I might have missed something — Unilocalers prove me wrong?
