We came here because a friends friend owns it. The place has only been under new management for a month. We ordered our drinks first before ordering our meal. I chose the pork belly with mash and apple sauce. The drink was a very fruity cocktail, super delicious because it didn’t have a strong alcohol taste. I really enjoyed it. We waited for the food to come out for 2 hours, by then it was close to 10pm and was pretty hungry. Thank god i had abit of food before i left the house. Well, first taste of the mash potato and i quickly dove for the glass of water. Uh it was really really salty. The pork belly was sloppy but it went well with the apple sauce. Overall the service wasn’t that great but the meals are reasonable priced. This place is probably better for drinks

Nice menu. Reasonable prices. Staff friendly and efficient. Burger ok and shoe string fries. But using the end pieces of iceberg lettuce and slicing the tomatoes thickly? Not easy to eat. Not difficult to use better ingredients.

Terrible. Very bad service. Forgot two of our dishes. Overpriced for a small portioned main meal. Ingredients listed on the menu were not in the meal. Waitress didn’t care and mentioned she was getting out of there soon. Would never ever go back again … Ever !!!

Oh lordy lordy me… If it wasn’t for the company I shared when I went to dine at Denn Bar, the night would have been very very disappointing. I came here on a Saturday night for a friends birthday, the place was packed and very loud. I arrived late only to find out that my friends had already been waiting 45 minutes just for their drinks. I ordered my meal when I arrived as the others had already ordered. I chose the Lamb Shanks. The person sitting next to me ordered a seafood platter. When the meals arrived my friends seafood platter wasn’t what we expected, it was full of fried calamari, 2 lack lustre oysters, a crab and 1 king prawn. Errrr that’s NOT a seafood platter. My lamb shank was dry and was accompanied by a potato mash with really strong bacon bits through it. The bacon ruined the meal. I can’t think of a good thing to write about Denn Bar, won’t be back.

I went to the Denn on a Friday for lunch with a group of about 20, perhaps 23, from work. We booked ahead, and they know there would be at least 20 of us. The menu is short but good. The only feedback I would have is that for a place that looks like it should be a pizza restaurant from the street(the big sign saying Pizza is the clue), there are only two pizzas available. Another quirk is specifying«baby veal»… Back to my dining experience: we arrived at about 1330, and had ordered by 1400. As perhaps expected, out meals came out piecemeal, in dribs and drabs. We were presented with some meals that were not ours, one incorrect order, and one completely missed. A simple breakfast took an hour to arrive; while it was good, it was just too late for it to be any good to a lunch, as most people had needed to leave by the time it was presented. The food was good, but small portions. Ravioli, and it was well cooked with nice sauce. But not enough for just a main for me. I was lucky to be gifted half a steak from my colleague who didn’t want a large meal; it was sensational. Kudos to the chef on the steaks. Nice fit out, but it looks like a bachelor pad filled with tables and chairs. I echo the sentiment of Gabriel P’s review… I would go back if invited, but the disjointed service makes me not too keen on arranging another visit myself.

Denn is yet another example of an uninspired and overpriced Westgarth restaurant. With a range of so called Tapas that all cost around the $ 15 mark, pizzas that are well made but pricey costing around the $ 20 mark each(and no way near as good as Pizza Meine Liebe up the road) and a range of pastas and risotto’s costing around $ 25 you will be hard pressed to find value or true quality here. Denn considers itself ‘a wine bar restaurant that serves up a range of Spanish, Italian and Modern Australian inspired dishes’. I say that they are a confused business that is trying to be something that it just isn’t. Maybe if they could decide whether they want to be a bar, a restaurant that serves up cheap but average tasting food, or a restaurant that charges the prices they do and actually delivers upon quality; then they may come halfway towards a desirable place to patron. But then they would also have to decide what cuisine they offer as well. Well I say that the only decision that needs to be made is to eat elsewhere, or at the very least at Ember Lounge next door. Which runs off the same kitchen but has daily meal deals.

Westgarth has a small but sweet selection of places to eat and enjoy a glass of wine. The few times I went to Denn I felt style beat substance and I was underwhelmed. Marinara(seafood) pasta is a favourite of mine, so I was eager to try their offering. Um, cold, bland, ugh. Not amazing. My fellow diners were equally unimpressed and I just wanted to finish my wine and leave. This may be a bit harsh as I have had fun/tasty pizza/beer evenings at the adjacent/connected Ember Lounge Bar, but I just feel this place fails to hit the mark.
