Great little art gallery tucked away on William Street and well worth checking out to see some beautiful pieces and enjoy the range of art magazines and hardback art books. I’ve been to the Melbourne store a few times and the reputation of Outré is solid — great pieces, well-delivered and an enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. I’m a collector of Shag prints and after attending one of Shag’s signing sessions at this store(he’s hella tall!), always make it a point to check out what else is on the go on a regular basis. What makes the Outré Galleries great are the love of art — and the appreciation of quirk. Definitely worth a browse and the risk of falling in love with a piece forever.

Outré Gallery is where I go when I want to buy an extra special present for someone, or want to treat myself! I love the art they choose for the gallery, and their framing is great. Some of my favourite artists, whose work is for sale at Outré, includes Matte Stephens, APAK, Blanca Gómez and Ghostpatrol. So good.

I’m going to be honest. I’m not completely into the urban art scene. I’m more of a traditionalist and more at home in a gallery with sparse walls displaying a few pieces. How did I find out about Outré? Their check in offer of a free high five. Love an art gallery with a sense of humour. After collecting my free high five I walked around the gallery/store looking at what’s on offer. Every available space is covered with art. I did find a piece and the best part was finding out that the gallery does also do mail order. Fantastic news for out of towners, although the pieces are sent from Melbourne and not from Perth. They are also sent unframed. The prices here are friendlier to your wallet than that of a traditional art gallery. These guys definitely know their market and who buys. I walked out with three pieces in mind to call my own in the very near future.

If you love urban art or want to find out what it is, check out Outré Gallery next time you’re wandering the increasingly awesome William Street in Northbridge. Outré is only small, but it’s packed to the rafters with great gear. If you’ve been thinking about starting a collection of quality art pieces but have always been too shy, or if you’ve always preferred tattoo art to fine art, this is a great place to start. Accessible in every way, including price point, Outré is about as cool and comfortable as art galleries get.

I am not a big art gallery person but I really liked this one. It’s a great little art gallery with affordable artwork. I thought I did not like contemporary art and yet I found things I liked. I thought I would not be able to afford art and Outré proved me wrong. Well done Outré!

I totally dig this joint. What a wonderful collection of art, and pretty much a first for me: I liked the majority of the collection. I was impressed that they have kept prices reasonable(in a land called Perth where many exploit the boom for all it’s worth, making it difficult for us folk of more modest means to enjoy the finer things of life). Thank you so much for creating an environment of such wonderful culture Outré; I look forward to starting my art collection with a piece by Mark Ryden very, very soon.

Great little art gallery, not often do i walk into a gallery where i pretty much like all pieces on display. Reasonably priced and great staff. A little issue with maintaining temperature on a warm night however. Hosted a great Unilocal event!

Galleries are my thing and no one I know can bear standing/walking around one for as long as I can so I usually do these things solo. I came upon Outré by chance the store assistant was smoking out the front and told me to feel free to have a look around and I’m glad I did. Framed prints hanging as high as practically possible the wall is a tessellation of frames by amazing artists such as James Jean, Glenn Barr, Matte Stephens and Mark Ryden. The best thing about these is that someone like you or me could even afford them, except I don’t think I have a wall worthy of their glory. Even the art gallery avoider would like Outré with books and gifts on display and sale it has something for everyone to look at.

I do love this little gallery and its nice to see that while it is consistent with its sister galleries in Sydney and Melbourne, it keeps things pretty patriotic by including a lot of works by WA artists. And the prices are very friendly for unique works. They certainly don’t waste any space here with virtually every inch of each wall covered in fine art, photography and illustrations. It would be nice to see these works in a bigger space. I think about the huge space a place like Venn has, hosting the minimal number of works that it does, and wonder why the owners of Outré don’t invest in something bigger to truly give these original wonders the frame they deserve.

A few years ago when I walked into the Sydney Outré store my senses were titillated and the love that I felt for the store could only be described through a Billy Ocean song. When I heard they were opening in Perth I was overcome with a sense of excitement and wonder at how my credit card was going to hold up. Outré proudly displays artwork from a range of contemporary artists locally, nationally and internationally. The great thing about Outré is that they know their market and who they are selling to — hence the art is priced reasonably. The store stocks predominantly prints and has a great selection of books. Conveniently located in the culturally vibrant William Street, Outré is a hub for art types and for those who are wanting to spruce the living room up with some interesting and unique artwork. If you’re anything like me you will find so many things to put on your Christmas list here.

This tiny gallery feels a bit more like a shop(which it is also — everything on show is for sale), and walking in it kind of felt like one of those places where you’re not sure it’s ok to just wander around looking. But of course it is, and the girl who works there is happy to chat to you about the work. Every inch of wall is covered with framed illustrations and prints, showcasing the best in street, pop and underground art. If you’re looking for something to give your walls a bit of street cred, then Outré is great — but if you just fancy a quick pop art fix, then take a wander round.

Andy Warhol once said that art is anything you can get away with. If high brow art like grand sculptures, abstract installations or conceptual pieces aren’t your bag, you’ll love Outré Gallery. Originating from Melbourne, owner Gemma has turned her stand alone Victorian store into an iconic purveyor and exhibitor of street art throughout both Sydney and Perth with stores now in each city. Like Sydney’s store(haven’t been to the Melbourne one, sorry!), Outré on William is a pokey little joint with high ceilings, giving it an authentic modern gallery feel and making the blank walls perfect for filling with frames upon frames of pop, street, retro and underground illustrations. They showcase the work of my absolute favorites — Mark Ryden and Audrey Kawasaki — and best of all, everything in the store is for sale! If you’ve not the salary of an enthusiastic art collector, you can also purchase from their selection of international art magazines and hard backed books. Don’t feel under any obligation to buy anything though. Although Outré feels more like a shop, it really is just a great place to check out some talented Australian and international illustrators.
