Great place for vegetarians like me. The food was quite tasty and resonably priced. Go for the standard meal and its a loaded plate for just 12 $. I would highly recommend this place specially if you are a pure vegetarian like me… :-) Only flipside is that it shuts very early 7pm to be specific. But food is great and very well priced too.

I arrived in Perth via the train from Fremantle about noon and was famished. I received an excellent recommendation from the tourist information booth and decided to hoof it over to the Hare Krishna sponsored restaurant for a meal. I am glad I did because not only was it inexpensive($ 12 water and yoghurt bevvie inclusive) it was tasty too. You will receive generous portions of healthy fare and they can do gluten free too if needed. The furnishings are sparse, and it was a bit hot and stuffy inside(no air con and 39 Celsius outside) but what do you expect given the price point?!? It is clean, there is a ceiling fan to redistribute the warm air, and the service is friendly. If I lived in Perth this would be a go to restaurant for veggo food. Thumbs up!

I’ve been addicted to this place for nearly 30 years. They used to be called Gopals and were in Barrack Street years ago. I always feel refreshed after the meal. And have gotten cravings for it over the years and always return. I’m so glad this is still part of Perth. It’s always been a sanctuary for me in a crazy noisy world. They used to have a meditation room upstairs when they were Gopals in barrack street. I miss that. You could go up and meditate, pray, or just sit quietly and eat. I wish there was some other place like that now. They always have literature and nice music but it’s a non-judgemental place where no one hassles you. Well Done the Hare Krishnas..

Tasty, dirt cheap, vegetarian chow. The inside isn’t glamorous, but that’s not the point of this place. I’m pretty sure the most you can pay here is $ 10 for the buffet. They have concession prices too, which I think is extremely decent. If you just want a small snack, there are yummy pakora for as little as $ 1 and samosas for $ 3. As other reviewers have noted, beware the dessert! If you don’t want sweet stuff plopped on the top of your savoury buffet, forgo the dessert

Been here a few times over the last 4 years & the menu has never changed or the guy who serves it. As I don’t go there too often I can’t complain. Their specials are amazingly cheap — $ 5 for a big container of food after 7pm. The food is all veggie which suits me. One thing I really don’t like is when they put the dessert on top of the rest of the food in the container which is usually why I skip dessert. It does definitely fill you up.

Hearty, pleasant & filling vegetarian food at an unbelievable price. I had a takeaway portion to eat in for $ 4! If you’re hungry and want some no nonsense good quality food that is served quickly, then this is the place to go! This is likely to be the cheapest meal I have ever paid for & it was very nice!

Come on, for $ 5 you get a sizeable meal that fills you up, tastes great, & vegetarian friendly. What more do you expect, Perth? «The food is authentic, but the décor isn’t so nice…» Excuse me, but are you paying $ 5? Do you think all«authentic» Indian restaurants in India look like the Taj Mahal? Have you ever seen a Hare Krishna decked out in bling? Affordable, check. Delicious, check. Fast & convenient, check. Ticks all my boxes.

All you can eat for $ 10 so it’s pretty hard to go wrong here. The staff are all absolutely lovely and the food is delicous — the Dahl is a particularly bright point for me. Since the food is all pre made rice and currys it is a super fast meal and as a student it only will cost you $ 8 for the buffet. Samosas are an extra $ 3 but are well worth it! Don’t forget to leave space for the halva and custard, it is an awesome way to finish off an awesome meal =)

I’m a huge fan of vegetarian food. And I’m a REALLY huge fan of a good bargain. Govindas has both. Excellent(albeit limited) vegetarian cuisine at prices you won’t find anywhere else in Perth — think $ 4 for a take away. Yeah. That good. Govindas is a Hare Krishna restaurant specialising in lentil and dhal curries, and the food and the place itself are something every Perthian should experience at least once. To top it off, Govindas is in a great location — smack bang in the middle of(the good part of) Northbridge. So why not make a night of it?

On a hot and sweltering afternoon in muggy Northbridge, myself and two friends were after something to eat. I felt like Chinese type food and spotted some rice beckoning me from inside a small, quaint looking restaurant. My friends and I stumbled in only to discover it was a Hare Krishna Restaurant. I was quite taken aback at first. I was expecting something more mainstream and although I’m aware of Hare Krishna food and philosophy I couldn’t tell you exactly what either are. Well, now I can at least tell you about the food. I was with a friend who has lived in India for quite some time and he said the rices and curries served in the restaurant mirrored the food he ate in India. They were very nice and had a home style feel, rather than restaurant feel to them. This is not surprising as my ample sized meal cost three dollars. Wow. Apparently the idea is to run the not for profit restaurant at cost price. I was totally impressed. And although the simple room was basic and minus a truly effective air conditioning system I would go back in a flash to support this wonderful inspiration and taste more Hare Krishna cuisine.

Absolute fabulous vegetarian food. Indian food at its best. Famous for its branches in Singapore, Govindas is a perfect place for visitors and guests both locally and internationally. Look out for the cheap buffet lunch, some go as low as $ 5 a meal with desserts thrown in. It’s a winner for me. Check them out!

The recently renovated Govinda’s is a vegetarians dream. Bain-marie’s filled with delicious vegetarian curries and pastries and the like fill the air with a rich spicy aroma which will whet even the meatiest carnivore’s appetite. Flavoursome, meat-free and with a pay-what-you-feel-is-fair attitude, Govinda’s can make for a very cheap, delicious meal — depending on whether you’re feeling generous or not. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for some yummy authentic cuisine that’ll fill you up and leave you satisfied.
