I believe most of my fellow Unilocaler(is that even a word?) have mentioned about how stunning the place is as well the the food quality is really mouth watering. So in this review I just stated what annoys me the most and I’ve also heard other people complained about this. This is not the place to go to when you’re really hungry and just want the food right the way because it takes FOREVERRRRR. I’ve been here twice and gotta wait around an hour for the food to be ready both times even though the place wasn’t full when we got there. The food as other people said was good but definitely not worth the wait in my opinion. You can give it a try but I wouldn’t see myself coming back there anytime soon. You can sign up on spot for their membership(which is free) and got $ 2 off for every dish you order.

My family dined here for one of my son’s birthdays. It’s a pretty little place that had caught our eye before, during our many walks along O’Connell Street. We were perched at a window seat and my the birthday boy was quite happy with the overly large chair he was assigned — as opposed to our ‘regular’ chairs. ;) It was a quiet night initially and the staff were attentive, making helpful meal suggestions which worked well. Mr 11 was suitably impressed with his beef ribs and polished them off, but Mr 13 was slightly disappointed with his fish which wasn’t the meal size he would have preferred! My beef fillet was To Die For! Perfection. Service did drop off as other diners arrived, which was a pity. We were left for quite some time without anyone asking if we’d like another drink or the dessert menu. The birthday boy was treated to ice cream with a candle(which was a surprise to us) and the waiter valiantly joined in while we sang to him. Kudos.

I’m a silly, self-contradicting, sullen sort of person. One argument I love to bring out for little other reason than to impose a superiority over(read: annoy the crap out of) everyone around me is that of food quality. If a person is going to get cross about quality of food — if a person can get annoyed for having a bit of chicken of a quality slightly less than he would of like, then THAT person ought never to let ANYTHING but the finest foods past his lips. Otherwise he’s like a Christian arguing for half the bible and admitting the other half is ‘really a little bit over the top’. But d’Artagnan isn’t only about the quality of food. It’s about the atmosphere. It’s a very ‘rich’ place. Read that how you will, but it’s certainly an apt representation. AND the establishment is named after the fourth musketeer! A literary allusion in the title of a restaurant? Say whaaaa?! Then again, they probably just took it from the movie. P. S. Steak. That’s all you need to know.(And there begins my contradictory nature.)

I was taken here on a special date for dinner by a fella out to impress earlier this year. It worked. The furniture alone is something to rave about. I felt like a queen perched in my huge throne-like chair, even sans crown. The food was exquisite. It’s the kind of food that makes you take your time and savour each mouthful, no matter how much of a piglet you usually are when eating. In fact, it may be insulting to call it food, cuisine would be more apt a description. On that note, I highly recommend the steak, it was tender, juicy, melt in your mouth stuff. I think it’s one of the better fine dining establishments in Adelaide for the design, ambience, menu, and service(with a french accent no less). In a nutshell — tres bien oui!

Oui Oui! A beautiful French bar/restaurant, that’s so French, and so chic! d’Artagnan has been open for about 8 months, and it’s easy to spot on O’Connell street due to the beautiful glittering frontage and alluring aura. My boyfriend and I sidled on in seeking affogato but were won over by a fantastic wine list, and drank instead while listening to romantic French tunes. The menu is expensive, but sounds rich and delicious and amazing, and we will definitely be returning for a special occasion,(e.g. any excuse will do). Our romantic interlude was unfortunately sullied by a tribe of twenty drunk guys lurching out of the function room. The bachelor party-goers were loud and obnoxious and closely followed by two chirpy strippers, and they spent some time out the front loudly commenting on what a fantastic show the talent had put on for them. After perusing the website we discovered d’Artagnan have a bit of a cross promotion going on with The Palace and Red Square, which seems ill at ease. Pairing a beautiful French bar and restaurant with a grubby nightclub and Palace speciality strippers? Soc Le Bleu, why?! Nevertheless we loved that place and will definitely return, but only on weeknights, sans ping pong show.
