The coffee is a little bitter for my liking, but the chilli con carne x baked eggs is great. Also a lovely location and the staff are good fun!

This place is so quaint! The service is lovely and so is the coffee. I cannot rave enough about the gluten free treats too. Especially, the donuts! !!

Moving down to Brisbane was a bit startling at first but the location we moved to just happened to be around the corner from this amazing location known as Dovetail on Overend. It’s amazing that the small corner-store café, Dovetail on Overend, provided my roommate and myself, with service and delicious beverages that are second to none in the Brisbane region. The second you take a seat outside the café, you feel comfortable, welcome, and apart of the small Norman Park community. Okay now more importantly– the coffee! No matter what the beverage you try, you are ought to be in awe. From a freshly brewed Espresso to a Chai Latte or Iced Mocha, each drink taste natural and raw, like you are tasting each ingredient at a time, and I myself have never tasted coffee so great and have never felt so in love with a Chai Latte(Highly recommend a fresh Chai Latte on soy milk!). I definitely recommend giving this location a try and make sure you ask for a recommendation from the legendary staff!

As I’m new to the area I decided to look up some places around me and dovetail was highly recommended. My roommate and I decided to go for a walk to find dovetail and it was roughly 2 in the afternoon which means that unfortunately dovetail was closed but the guys were still there and we got to chatting and the owner said he could still sell us iced drinks, which was great because that’s exactly what I was after. I got the iced mocha and it was delicious! They come in what looks like beer bottles. It’s so cool and I have to say I felt pretty awesome walking around with this bad boy in my hand

It makes my heart smile to know that places like this exist. Located at 85 Overend Street, you will discover the little humble gem Dovetail On Overend in Norman Park. We had the dovetail supreme special: it was a pot of deliciousness of baked eggs, beef chili con carne mixed with a siciliana caponata. So damn good! And to share we decided to order an extra side of the avocado and goats cheese on toasted bread as I am an avocado addict. It was so delicious. They sure know how to make a great coffee, and the blend of Uncle Joe’s coffee is devine; smooth and bold. We ordered a long macchiato and a skinny chai. A personal touch they provide are warm blankets on each chair to wrap yourself up like a cosy bear. Its like being at an old friends house. If there’s a place to be comfortable in your trackies, reconnect with friends, be well fed and drink fantastic coffee, then Dovetail On Overend is your new best friend! Open Monday to Friday 6:30am till 1:00 and Saturday & Sunday 7:00 — 2:00pm.

Thoroughly enjoyed the service and the coffee… OHTHECOFFEE. I’m not even an avid die-hard coffee connoisseur(I drink caramel lattes… not even coffee, really), but the boys at Dovetail made me a great coffee after I explained my coffee-impairment. I had the Avo & goats cheese on toasted bread… WOW!!, simple but very tasty. There are a few small meals on the menu, but look great. The desserts… ok, I’m coming back to have the choc & salted caramel tart YUM. Well done Adam and team… the quiet street atmosphere and surroundings are great. Thank you.

Opening a café is no easy task and when I heard on the grapevine known Beanhunter reviewer Adam T was set to open his own café in Norman Park, I was eager to see what would transpire. There’s no doubt Adam knows his coffee but that doesn’t always translate to being able to get the dynamics of a café right. But there needn’t have been any worry because Adam has got this covered. This morning, the air crisp and a certain tone of Autumn around, I ventured to Norman Park to try the coffee(Uncle Joe’s roasted) from within this galley-kitchen sized café. Adam has done a great job of opening a café that focusses on the coffee, for the time being. There’s a few cakes and one baked egg dish on the menu, but really this is a true coffee house. You know they’re serious about coffee when you overhear Adam asking another customer what kind of coffee profile they like to make sure their coffee is the perfect blend. I ordered a flat white and it was made on the Mr Joe blend. It was, quite possibly, one of the best coffees I’ve had in recent times in Brisbane. The roast was smooth and deep. With the milk there was no hiding that coffee flavour. Adam tells me this roast is equally good as a filter. The banana bread I ordered as a treat for«elevensies» was quite the partner to the coffee. The space is small but they’ve provided ample seating outdoor including bar seating. This is, as I’ve said, the year of Brisbane’s suburbs and Dovetail is just another tick in that box for the locals of Norman Park.

Once in a while you meet someone who is just meant to open their own business and express their passion to everyone. And that would be Adam and Rejoice, owners of the new Dovetail on Overend. Adam’s reviews on Beanhunter have always been fair and reliable. And he has certainly covered some distance and cafes. It was exciting to go visit and check out how they have created such a beautifully crafted space from such a tiny floor area. It really is sleak and divine. The seating outside is wonderful, looking out on to the pretty suburb. It’s quiet and relaxing. Now, when I went the food licence hadn’t been approved, so for coffee alone I give it 5 stars. Here is a place where coffee is king, where skill and passion meet in a delicate aqua blue cup, where crema, latte art and flavour mix to tantalise your tastebuds. More I say, give me a piccolo! Perfect, another delightful, rich, robust and smooth hit of espresso. Okay, give me another… an espresso shot of Uncle Joe’s best… and I am in espresso heaven. Three faultless espressos, Jered the Barista knows his stuff and it is a one two punch that will see this little place becoming a HUGE neighbourhood favourite and a high rater on Beanhunter. Kudo’s to everyone involved. LOVE it!
