Better than OK for what feels like a gaming lounge turned all you can eat buffet turned your local football club!!! Not impressive at all from the outside you wonder what clubrooms you’re about to walk into. Upon entry you’re presented with a below average décor with large tables strewn about the place. If busy I’m sure it would look like mayhem. On our visit it wasn’t too busy and it felt okay. Our table chose a variety of dishes including pasta, pizza, a tagine dish, and crumbed seafood, as well as sweets. The overall feedback was good — the pizzas in particular looked and tasted very nice, and the bases were thin and nicely cooked. The tagine dish was tasty but not mind blowing, the pasta nice and given their Italian heritage one would expect so, and the crumbed seafood, well, crumbed and fried, and the recipients did not complain. The German apple cake was tasty and quite a large portion and the churros a little over cooked and over sugared so not the best. Whilst I did not get to see or taste more I did notice an impressive array of local brewery offerings on display. Pike’s Lager and Pale Ale, Tim Knappstein Lager, and the entire Bierhaus range(from Lobethal). There was probably more but I knew my limits ;). Overall an inexpensive night out, a good outing for a group and the kids, but not so good for a romantic date.

Cold Thursday night, good place for meeting friends after work. Casual atmosphere, kids playground. The place was packed. Our group chose the special of slow cooked veal shank. It was amazing, tender, juicy and huge. A very high quality tasty meal, restaurant quality in a pub $ 25. Nice place, good food. Not a lot of atmosphere or getting to know the wait staff

Great place to take kids, has a semi-outdoor covered play area. Food was good, not great. Kids menu a bit over priced, great food selections for those with various food allergies(GF).

While I really hate writing a bad review, we have been a few times and have experienced the same thing over and over again. While the playground is great and the food fine for meal out, every time we have gone there they have made mistakes. We have been to functions there where they have forgotten to serve things. We have spoken to them on the day where they have promised something and when we get there it is something different. The last time we went, it took them an hour and a half to serve our food because they forgot about it. It’s not that I don’t understand that mistakes are made. However, every time we have made complaints, we have been dismissed. One time the manager even refused to come and speak with us. If only we had gotten a sincere apology and a decent attempt to rectify the situation, this would of been a different review.

A very disappointing Father’s Day lunch. The Rezz was busy but not full, and even if the food is good I can’t see myself going back. Our table for four was booked for 12.30pm, and were were home by1.45pm so maybe that says something in itself. Upon our arrival the waiter could not find our allocated table number 71, and were were standing in front of many empty tables waiting for that to be sorted. He then turned up with our table number and swapped it with for a table with number 48. So we’re sitting at the table with no menus and a different lady came up to take our order. She ran off to bring some menus when another lady brought us some. When the waitress came back and saw us with a menu each, she placed her four menus at the end of the table saying joyfully«you can have two each now». We had hardly had our menus when we were asked by another waitress what we would like to order and requested another couple of minutes. Another waitress(a different one again) took our order, and our predrinks were soon served followed by our shared entrée of garlic pizza. Three of our mains arrived, and we had to wait for our son to receive his main meal of pizza and the time was ticking. Some of our empty plates were taken by another male waiter, and I asked whether we were supposed to get a bowl of sliced bread as we’d noticed other tables have it. The waiter did ask whether we wanted bread, and it really was too late as he had cleared my dishes. So another staff member(the guy on the till) came to take my son’s pizza tray away, and took our table number away. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks, nor later offered the dessert menu or asked whether we wanted coffee. After waiting waiting waiting we decided to leave so I went to pay the bill. I was not told what we had to verify the total, and as it seemed like the right amount. I spoke of my displeasure in the lack of service, and he asked whether we wanted coffees but it was far too late as the boys were ready to go. I stated that we’d be unlikely to return and he said we must come back to try. There is no incentive to return.

Spent a great evening in the ‘traditional’ front bar(TAB one end, lucky bingo on wall, footy televised at other end) enjoying the game, great service & excellent food! The menu is the same as that of the bistro & excellent value. $ 17 for a large beef burger(w/fantastic chips — a food item pubs simply must get right) & $ 25 for an amazing beef shaslick dish that came skewered w/capsicum & red onion w/a delicious tomato salsa, hommus & salad on the side. The atmosphere was heightened by footy fever but will definitely go back regardless of whether there’s a final on or not.

Walking into the massive Ress complex, the first thing that hits you is the amazing scent emanating from the kitchen. The couple of times I’ve been here it’s been the same damn smell, I’ve never bothered to ask what it is, and sadly I’ve never eaten here, only to come for a few drinks. The back bar is quite small with some betting facilities. The«beer garden» is a small fenced off area with room for two tables in it. Now Rezz seems to be a very«local» pub. Many of the people in the bar were definitely on friendly terms with the bar staff. But the bar staff were still great to a non-Athelstonian such as myself.

The Rezz is kind of iconic in Athelstone, really good food put together on a regularly changing menu so you find some of your favourites and something fresh and new, every time you go. There’s a regular feature of live music, a classy atmosphere, and the staff are always happy to see you, whether it’s your first visit or your fifteenth. Special occasions such as Fathers Day, Mothers Day and Christmas are always very popular, so book well in advance. Kids are well catered for with a seperate menu, and there’s always colouring in sheets available for your table — family friendly at it’s best. As far as bistro dining in the suburbs goes, I’d suggest the Rezz offers some of the best value for money to be found.
