I was recently in town for a short time; I stayed across the road from Bank Corner so decided to pop in for my usual 3pm espresso. I didn’t get the small«Paris café» feel that the frequenters boast about, nonetheless I was impressed with the warm welcome from the friendly barista who’s coffee was more than perfect. I decided I would go back the next morning for a long black and a simple avocado on toast; yum! I am glad I did! Early morning people watching as the sun slowly peaks through the buildings and warms the seats out the front of Bank. I would recommend this place to any one travelling through Newcastle looking for their usual coffee order or to locals who want a great place to hang out. I will definitely be back.

Walking into Bank Corner Café was like walking on to the set of Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, or what I imagine it may have been like. It’s moody, 1920s Paris or Casablanca vibes subtly weaving throughout this small corner café with art-deco courtyard. 3 stars only because we stopped for a quick drink, a cookie and didn’t, on this visit, have chance to truly experience all the Bank Corner Café had to offer. Still, it’s up there in one of my top picks for Newcastle.

Trendy café between Hunter St and Wickham train station. Serves a range of local organic food and wine. Great Art Deco ambience. Check out the rear court yard if you can’t find a table inside or out the front.
