I had a hankering for something light and different for lunch and Thai doesn’t always do it for me. So I wandered a little further along Military Rd than usual and spotted a pleasant-​looking Korean restaurant, The Ssam.
Korean can be hit or miss for a vegetarian and I always feel a bit awkward walking into a restaurant and looking at the menu and walking out, so as there were no customers in there at that time I was grateful for the massive menu on the wall… I dilemma’d over what to eat as I didn’t think I felt like rice, but the nice lady behind the counter talked me into the bibimbab so I went for that. Mostly just so I could say Bibimbab. My bibimbab was just as a bibimbab (fun, isn’t it?) should be– a variety of Kimchi and pickles, the rice was light and delicious, miso soup and a lovely scoop of some sort of delicate mashed potato stuff. And all for under $ 9.
I will be back, probably daily until I get sick of saying Bibimbab.
