Horrible horrible music. If your going to play nothing but 1980’s there were better options. TVs full of sport. Decent wooden Fitout.

The Byrnleigh is a lovely pub/restaurant in Nedlands. It had a lovely décor with the option of outdoor or indoor seating. It had a lot of tv screens so it’s a good place to watch the footy or any other sport games. The staff are friendly and attentive and they have a delicious menu. I had the NYC pizza there yesterday and it was very tasty. It is a bit on the pricy side though so be prepare to pay at least $ 30 for a glass of wine and a main meal. They have some great mid-week food deals that look worth checking out and some great deals on holding functions there. I will be back there to try more of the menu.

Why have I taken this long to visit this place?! Came here yesterday for a quick drink before our next destination. It was a pity we had already eaten lunch(a terrible lunch) as the food here looked a lot more appealing! They had a great deal called ‘Slider Sundays’, for $ 20.00 you get 2 sliders, chips and a cider. The food menu looked delicious and the drinks menu was quite extensive and reasonably priced. They also have cocktail jugs for only $ 25.00, where at places like The Garden you would pay around $ 40.00. The place was decorated nicely as well. Sort of felt like a forest inside and there was a nice little courtyard out the back as well. Will be returning to try the food soon!

met up with friends here for dinner — good atmosphere for drinking and watching sports. unfortunately i don’t do either… had the ribs, not great… also came here for lunch with $ 15 lunch special: 2 tiny flat pieces of fish with a handful of salad… it’s more of a drinking place — but they do have $ 1 chicken wing wednesdays!

3pm on a grey winters afternoon, a girlfriend of mine and I decided to meet up for a quick drink and catch-up. Needless to say we ended up staying for not only drinks, but dinner and coffees too. Services: The manager was on his way in as we were entering and held the door open for us and greeted us with a smile. The rest of the service followed suit with friendly staff from start to finish. The atmosphere: This place seems to have it all, super casual outdoor areas out the front and back(this was full of tradies when we came in), a great upstairs function area(which was set up for a 21st), a casual sports bar area, a restaurant area and a booth-like area. As the afternoon progressed into the evening the pub become busier with less tradies and more of the after work crowd and dinner groups coming in. Being a Friday night we were treated to some nice tunes from a local guitarist, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The food: Priced the same as most of the nicer pubs/bars in Perth the food is just as on par. We kicked off with some drinks –Gin & tonic(with plenty of gin) and cider before deciding to grab a feed. I immediately knew what I wanted as I had heard that the warm pumpkin salad($ 22) was a bit on the interesting side. Both of us ordered the same meal and both of us were amazed when this gorgeous plate of colour was presented to us. The only thing better than the presentation of the salad was the taste. The flavour and texture combinations were wonderful. The pumpkin and quinoa were cooked well, the lettuce and thin radish slices were crisp, the cooked red onions melted in your mouth and the balsamic dressing struck the right balance of sweet yet edgy. I can honestly say that as far as my experience with pub salads go The Byrneleigh out-did itself. We capped our time off with a couple of tasty long blacks. Summary: Like many of the nicer local pubs in Perth The Byrneleigh has something for everyone. The prices are reasonable, the beer is cold and the food is delicious. Great for a casual night out, after work drinks or a dinner with friends.

This is my second visit to the Nedlands bar. I truly like the dis-jointed and quirky interior. But the food on Sat night just wasn’t up to scratch. I ordered the whiting with chips and aioli. The meals were brought out promptly and with a smile. The fish didnt have a crunchy batter which gave the impression that it had been sitting out in the cold for a while. The chips that came as the side were nothing to kill for as they were a standard shoestring affair. The glimmer of hope for this dish was the wonderfully balanced aioli. It was light with a little zing and gave the fish a little help down the gullet. After a quick round around our table I found the salmon did not have crispy skin which would have provided a lovely textural lift to the dish, and the pizza ordered was not in the winners circle. Overall the décor is fantastic, great service but let down buy the food side of the house. Food 5.5÷10 Service 8⁄10 Décor 8⁄10

The Byrneleigh is one of those places that seems to polarise people. Apparently you either love it or hate it. It has a very modern feel, with high ceilings, lots of wood and muted colours. I am really not sure why the angst about it. I came here with some friends who are locals for their Tuesday night Quiz Meisters event. It turned out to be a lot of fun. The food is delicious and quite reasonably priced for the area. Normally you hit the western suburbs and the price of everything magically increases. Kind of like when you say something is for a wedding. My friends also recommend a visit for a Sunday Session with live acoustic music and a laid back atmosphere. No aggro like elsewhere. I will be back and happily recommend it for a nice night out.

I’ve only come to The Byrneleigh once for a function, where drinks and canapes were served in a private space upstairs, but for the hour or so I was there, I liked it. The interiors were vibrant and kind of edgy with their decked floors and timber wall panelling. There were lots of fun seating areas and cool light fittings. It’s compelling for the architecture and design alone. Thumbs up there. The drink menu was fine, a reasonable range of beers and wines, plus they do cocktails — prices are a little steep but you expect that now in Perth. And the finger food was also fairly ok — basic eats like steak skewers, arancini, rice paper rolls. Overall, I thought the experience was pretty great to be honest. I’m not shocked, it’s just that people seem to diss the place fairly quickly and I can’t quite see why.

This place has its ups and downs and from what I hear they are trying to increase the number of ups but for me it seems that they are trying to fit into a bracket of elegance, prestige and high class(which would allow them to charge high prices) but they haven’t quite managed to match the service and food with the ideals. Who combines high tea options with dicsount burger and beer meal deals in the one establishment? It confuses the market and ends up in some people being unsatisfied with food/service and the rest unsatisfied with price. Nice beer garden for a Friday evening all said.
