Great Udon and service to match. Take away is an option with the food arriving separately packed to ensure freshness

A favorite of ours. The food is fresh and delicious. The teppan yaki dishes are outstanding! You really must try the beef teppan yaki it’s so tender and delicious. All the dishes are made fresh. Never had a bad meal here. It’s licensed and the prices for a beer are very reasonable for a restaurant. It has expanded in size so it’s not usually too difficult to walk in without a booking. However it is very popular and I would advise you book on peak nights.

2016: A monthly to go to. This place still rates as my #1 Japanese in Perth. I literally cannot fault them. 11 months ago POSITIVE
10 years I’ve been going to this place. And they still remain the best Japanese restaurant in Perth by a mile long. — – 11 Sep, 2011 — – Fantastic. Food here is out of control. I’ve been in and out of here for 4 years. The thing that bewilders even me, is the fact that not once have I EVER had a bad meal here. The food is just so so FRESH which is the most vital thing when dealing with raw food. It is expensive but the portions of sushi in particular are HUGE, they are at least triple the size of an ordinary roll.

Nice little Japanese on Beaufort St. next to Malt and Astor. Very decent prices with a great menu on offer. Very good service and food was very fresh ranging from agedashi tofu to seaweed salad to fresh sushi rolls to tuna tataki. Will be back to try more options.

The menu selection is impressive and very reasonably priced. The service is prompt and efficient. Dined there with friends, shared four entrées and three mains and found everything delicious. A pleasant surprise was the cost of alcohol which must be the cheapest of any similar restaurant in town. Will be back very soon to try more of the many dishes on offer.

I don’t get it!?! Am I eating somewhere different than all the people who have written positive reviews? Or am I just a tough critic? The service is great, no complaints there. The layout is pretty cool, I love anything Japanese. But the food is crap in my eyes. All I can taste is salt. I’ve given it a couple of goes, to see if it was just me. But sadly, I walked away disappointed and frustrated that I had not been able to satisfy my craving for a decent feed of Japanese food. Perhaps I am a food snob, but this is not Japanese food in my eyes. And they charge pretty high prices here. I ain’t falling for it again.

The boys left it up to me to order so I went to town with the entrees! Entrees are generally the tastiest and you get to try so many different dishes. Chicken karaage — nicely fried but not the best I’ve had Sashimi — Just ok as well The mains were all just ok. I don’t have anything good or bad to say about them. I don’t think I’m going to rush back here in a hurry. Nothing really stood out! Final thoughts — There was nothing to fault about the food. Everything was tasty but nothing impressed me. The service was really slow and inattentive but I guess that’s cause it was a full house. I don’t think I will be trekking all the way to Mount Lawley for a similar feed that I could find at say Yuki Japanese or Silver Sushi.

Love this Japanese in Mt Lawley. The food is consistently good. The device can be hit and miss but it’s tolerable. Prices are reasonable and the menu selection is good. Highly recommend the sashimi — always so fresh — and the seaweed salad.

Hanami is one of those places I can always rely upon for an amazing beef teriyaki. The beef is always good quality with lots of flavour in the dish and also the accompanying miso soup. I can’t go past it each time I’m there! We chose it as a last minute option for a Saturday night and it was packed, but only waited a few minutes until a table was cleared. There are also seating options by the front window where you can sit on the floor with cushions for a slightly more traditional dining experience. The prices were a little more expensive than I remembered but I think the lunch time menu might be a little cheaper. Parking can be a little tight though on the weekend but we were able to find a spot only a short walk away

Last night wanted a quick take away order of Japanese for myself and couple of friends. Our usual restaurant we go to on Beaufort Street would not answer their phone,(grrrrr!) so decided to give this place a try. When we went to collect the food I first noticed their cute paper lanterns out the front along with some tables and chairs. Inside the small restaurant was an area at the front that you could sit on cushions on the floor and eat. The rest of the restaurant had normal tables and chairs. The place seemed quite busy but we didn’t have to wait at all for our food. The workers were all dressed in cute kimonos and were extremely friendly. When we got home and attacked the food, it was delicious! We all got what we thought were Bento box’s, I got the Chicken Teriyaki Bento box but my only complaint was that all it had was rice, chicken teriyaki, a small salad and miso soup for $ 20.00! I’m use to a Bento box with the meat, rice, salad, sushi, seafood of some sort and a miso soup for around $ 10.00! This is from my usual Japanese restaurant so I was a bit disappointed at the value for money. Saying that, as the food was very tasty, I would like to eat here again, dining in next time.

We keep on going back to Hanami. BEAUTIFULSUSHI. Delicious tako. Amazing hotategai. Stunning raw salmon(not crappy old smoked salmon substitute). Generous rolls, and gluten-free shoyu is available. Ticks every box. It’s just what I love about a Japanese sushi place.

I have been to Hanami many times and it never dissapoints. I went there last night with a girlfirend and we ate like kings for $ 80. Entrée Tempura Prawns = Fanatastic Beef Tataki = One of the best places in Perth for this dish Agadashi Tofu = A little soggy but the sauce was great Main Sashimi platter = Fresh and amazing Beef with Mustard Sauce = Oh my, orgasmic, one of my favourites Now the place itself is not that flash, but if you dine with good company and for the food, like myself, then Hanami is a Japanese MUST!!!

Here is how it works with me and Australian sushi: Danielle goes to an Australian sushi restaurant, Danielle eats the sushi, Danielle hates the sushi and Danielle throws a tantrum. It happens often here. Hanami was… different. I left feeling satisfied and slightly giddy. Paranoid that someone might have drugged me, I returned a few days later. Again, I left satisfied and smiling. Hanami and I have been seeing each other ever since. It isn’t like American sushi restaurants(Yes, I know. All I ever talk about American sushi). It doesn’t have a variety of original, fabulous rolls. You’ll get your general teriyaki dishes, sashimi and tempura. However, it is pretty damn good teriyaki, sashimi and tempura. My order of choice is the medium sized tuna sashimi. Hello Mr. Delicious! The tuna is super red, super fresh and super succulent. Along with the sashimi I get Hanami’s garden salad. Wait, what? That’s right! A garden salad. I know that isn’t very sushi like, but oh mama, they have this heavenly salad with avocado, cucumber, tomato and tofu. To top it off, that salad is covered in the BEST salad dressing I have had to date. It is a mixture of radish, pineapple and carrots and I often fantasize about bathing in it. My only complaint is, as per usual, it gets pretty pricey. Luckily I’m willing to put up with it for their food. Thanks Hanami. You’ve given me hope for Australian sushi and you’ve given me a pleasant place to eat. You’re alright in my books, kid.

I am very surprised I have reviewed Hanami only just now! Probably because I assumed I already had. It’s a regular local after all. Everything is exceptionally fresh and tasty, service is snappy and the mood is a bit more upmarket than your Tan Po Po(cheap and cheerful) and Yuzu(sushi train) nearby. Pay particular attention to the Teriyaki dishes — their recipe is rich, syrupy, and delicious, if a little thick. The most opulent Teryaki chicken I know. In addition to the main event, the side salads shine on their own too. There is something magical about that mysterious orange dressing they ceremoniously cover those humble iceberg leaves in. Is it peanut oil? grapefruit? Salmon roe? stardust? I still cannot put my finger on its amazing taste after bowl, after bowl, after bowl! Oooh I love a good game of food sleuth!

I’ve fallen into the trap of getting overpriced take-away twice from this place, and I’m not prepared to make the same mistake again. A small amount of mixed sushi was $ 17 plus which, despite the freshness of the ingredients and tastiness of the meal, didn’t measure up in my opinion. I love dining here though: it’s intimate and atmospheric, with some low table seating and other cultural touches to give the experience a more Japanese flavour. I found the service prompt, the menu diverse and the food(as always) tasty and well-presented. And for some reason the dine-in prices seemed more reasonable than the take-away. Not my favourite Japanese joint around town, but it certainly has some high points if you’re in the area.

Hanami is a cute little restaurant along Beaufort street that specializes in Japanese cuisine. The venue offers low tables with cushions for a more authentic dining experience, other wise there are tables or take away options available. The staff are very friendly and helpful, making sure I am ordering what I think I am!(No, I don’t want the one with egg in it!). Their katsu is particularly good, and their sushi rolls even better, which certainly made up for the lengthy waiting time when I was particularly starving. Price wise, I certainly felt like I was over charged a little for my take away meal, however the quality was of a very high standard, and surely worth the price if you are going to sit and enjoy a meal on location.
