Having gone to school in Mt Hawthorn, I have a love/hate relationship with this store. I used to come here all the time to buy shiny new shoes, which is great for the mini fashionista in me but bad because it meant, da-da-da-da, the first day of school was around the corner.
Anyways, this is where we got our tootsies measured as we grew bit by bit. I’ll always remember the massive retro sign that still sits on the roof with its cute ‘There was an old woman who lived in a shoe’ connotations.
These days, Tredways stocks Doc Martens, too, and with a window display that features a mannequin looking all Jason ‘Friday The 13^th’ style, I wouldn’t be surprised if the occasional goth and arty emo shop here…
