I was hesitant to write this as I don’t want everyone else coming here. I love The Mezz because it’s easy to get to, easy parking, good mix of shops and generally has everything I need from medicine, fresh produce, bakery, weekly shop to gifts, homewares, hairdresser, key/shoe guy and massages. The centre totally nailed the local demographic with a playground for kids, a range of food options at varying prices which all cater to kids and seasonal events to entertain the kids. It’s a great local.

The Mezz is a small one-story suburban shopping centre in Mt Hawthorn. They have everything you’d expect from a centre of this size — a supermarket, health food store, bakery and a few other specialty stores. What separates this shopping centre from other suburban shopping centres is the restaurant offering. There’s an outside food court with quite a few cuisines available, from fish & chips to Missy Moos Burgers and more upscale restaurants lining the alfresco area and along Scarborough Beach Road.

I have just moved to the Mt Hawthorn area so I was keen on taking a wander to check out my local shopping centres. Mainly just wanted to scope out my local woollies as I still have a fond attachment to my last suburb’s one! I was surprised to see this complex being in such a great location for me and also amongst an abundance of other useful utilities. As I was short on time I tried to take a look around and they are really trying to revamp the place up as previous reviews seem to show it wasn’t very lively back in the day! I passed a great outdoor area that is kid and adult friendly with a small playground to one side and some great bar tables and lounges on the other. Some little burger joints and restaurants surrounded the central chill-out area, their décor looked great and I was so tempted to stay the rest of the evening and call around a few friends for a drink. Parking seemed adequate but I didn’t go at a busy time so that’ll be interesting to see if I have any issues with it! For now I give it 3 stars as it was a pleasurable sight to see and looked very inviting, but I’ll wait until I can properly spend a decent amount of time there before I rush into rating it. As first impressions go– TICK! Watch this space! :)

I’ve always liked The Mezz. It is a little shopping centre in the heart of Mount Hawthorn. There is a Woolworths, chemist, butcher, bakery and a number of cute boutique gift stores and eating places. Its a good place to get a few things done at the same time. For example yesterday I stocked up on food, bakery goods, butcher meats and alcohol for my house christmas party. It was an easy, one stop shopping trip which makes things a lot easier. I also got some sushi from a new Japanese place there which was okay– not as good as other places I usually frequent but good enough. On the outside of the Mezz the also have some good food restaurants and clothing stores.

The Mezz is a pretty basic shopping centre in Mt Hawthorn. If you live locally it has a Coles supermarket for you to get your basic food items. But people do not flock to Mt Hawthorn for this shopping centre. Mt Hawthon is the cafes, bars and speciality stores that line Scarborough Beach Rd. This place is currently having work done on the road that runs into the car park, which makes this place hard to get in and out of and very very noisy and uncomfortable.

The owners of this shopping complex make a lot of noise about it: as if its the best thing in Mt Hawthorn. Not. The Mezz is a bit old-hat, actually; inside the shopping centre, anyway where there’s a couple of grocery outlets, one very antiquated looking newsagency, a cramped chemist, butcher, expensive baker, and that’s about it. Perhaps it was because I had my hawk-eye thing going on that the security guards here kept stalking me. I mean piss of, mates. I’m browsing for Unilocal’s sake. If you really want to see a hip side to Mt Hawthorn step outside of The Mezz and just before the carpark you’ll see some of the nicest shops this side of Perth including toy emporium Ball & Skittle, floral specialists Code Bloom, and delish fish’n’chip shop(simply called Mt Hawthorn Fish’N’Chips) all of which are reviewed on this very site.

When I worked in Osborne Park I used to drive past this shopping centre every day never knowing what was in there or if it was worth parking the car and having a look. Having to use a toilet one day I parked up and discovered an air conditioned haven with handy stores and a two storey car park! There is a decent sized Woolworths serving the suburb. There is also a lovely bakery, a book shop, a hair dresser and a Gloria Jeans(which is always a bonus for a coffee). Im telling you, I was quite surprised and pleased(possible due to the toilet) with what I found in here.
