Mount Gambier is a pretty busy place … the café that we originally intended to visit was way too packed! So we used Unilocal to find ‘nearby’ cafes, as we were starving … and came upon The Whistling Cat — great name, which is a good start! This place is MASSIVE! It is decorated like an antique store, and has the potential to be fantastic. The menu is pretty basic, mainly paninis and doorstops — I had a chicken panini, which was served with a lot of salad — good value, but not exactly a taste sensation. While not completely blown away, our lunch was nice … standard café fare. Would be greatly improved by playing some jazz music in the background instead of a generic mainstream radio station — while this place has potential, it kinda misses the mark.
