It seems fitting that my 100th review is a positive one. The one thing a girl likes to have total control over, besides her partner, is her hairstyle. I was recommended to Ruri Studio for Hair by not one, but two fellow Unilocalers, after the quality of my usual hairstylist fell below par. So I went there and sussed Ruri out by stealth. The first thing I asked for was a colour. It was great. The next visit was for a fancy up do for an event. Also good. The third was for a re-growth touch up — perfect. Finally, yesterday, I went the whole mecoy, getting a style cut, colour and blow-dry. That package came to $ 140 and I have loooonnnng hair(shorter now by a couple of inches). On each occasion I had four-hand treatment. That is, not one, but two lovely girls working on my hair at once. The staff are all very sweet girls, with the exception of one entertainingly camp gent called Vince. I have only ever received smiles, nods and agreement for all services rendered. They are very helpful and pleasant and there is a wide variety of trash mags for losing yourself in, including eye candy Men’s Health(Thank you Vince). The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is for Celine Dion. She’s on every time I go in, on the dual screens, belting out ballads, then pretending she can sing a Queen song. Vince strikes again. But at least it’s not Barbara Streisand. They don’t charge a surcharge for our convenience to use our credit cards and they accept American Express. Plenty of free street parking available. It is located at the Mount Hawthorn end of Oxford Street, opposite Yelo café. If you time your visit right, you can pop in to Wee Bar across the road with your new fabulous do(after 4pm) and wow the crowd. Giddy up!
