What a cosy little teppanyaki place! From the moment when we walked in, we were made to feel so welcomed with such friendly service. One of the distinctive features was the extravagant amount of sake bottles lining the wall, but for those who prefer a different drop, there is a decent wine list as well as a great number of beers and Japanese whiskeys! The dinner was absolutely delicious, and the performance which chef Jay put up preparing our food was so entertaining and enthralling. Especially when he started juggling the egg and having it land and split half way onto the cooking spatula, and the egg then slid out onto the hot plate was so spectacular! The food was tasty and cooked with such attention to detail, definitely have come back and try the other items on the menu.

Omg amazing! We went for the best menu options paired with Saki. My birthday surprise dinner. And the meal was a delight from the first morsel. Never really had sashimi before but was willing to give it a go, and the cut of each fish was mouthwatering, such care and precision taken. I must admit I have never really had saki before either, but will definitely be drinking again. Favorite dish was the swordfish with scallops, then the wagyu steak with onion, garlic and truffle, and then the sushi. But all the courses were delish … Want to come back and soon, amazing!!!

If Japanese is your thing then Fuku is a hidden little gem. Tucked just off Stirling Highway in Mosman Park. This was a special treat for my wife’s 30th birthday. We went on a Thursday night and had the«Better» set menu. It was amazing from start to finish even if we did struggle to eat dessert after four mouthwatering course. The chef was spellbinding to watch at work and once a few customers left was very chatty… He even alerted us to the walk-in menu for $ 65. Highly recommend going and a great alternative to Nobu.

Wow! Japanese degustation! Who’d have thought! This was a special treat for my birthday and I was definitely spoilt. A small intimate restaurant which you have to buzz to enter the doors. You sit right in front of the chefs and get to see them prepare each dish. They double as your waiters to presenting you with each one and explaining what each dish consists of. I never thought of Japanese being presented in this manner and it works well. Each dish was great, my favourites were the partridge, scallop and dessert dishes. Best matcha icecream ever by the way! To top it all off best whiskey selection I’ve seen in Perth. Especially if you like Japanese whiskeys. A great treat and night out!

So maybe I’m a sucker for it — but I love teppanyaki. I’ve only been to two teppanyaki places in Perth(Nobu & Fuku), and both have been great, but both quite different. We had a craving for some good Japanese food, so got a last minute booking to Fuku on a weeknight and chose the«Better» set menu. This place seems to be all about the food — no Benihana antics. Every course was presented meticulously and with care, and taste and seasoning was just right. Highlights for me were the quail, the super fresh sashimi and the wagyu steak & fried rice. I loved the intimate setting, and especially the massive wall of sake. I have made a vow to return soon and enjoy more sake when I am not driving. I guess it was slightly expensive at $ 135pp for food only, but I wasn’t disappointed by it, given the quality, attention and experience.
