This job centre is pretty good, most of the staff are friendly and I’ve found them to be reasonably helpful. But I can’t speak highly enough about one particular staff member who’s been of immense help to me; Candice. Candice is exuberant, full of energy and very genuine in her quest to help job seekers. I was particularly impressed when I mentioned I wanted to do some photography study. I was completing a non-accredited eight week course and Candice kindly offered to see if she’d be able to secure some funding for me. Turns out she could. I’d spoken to a few other people in similar positions as hers and was told flat out they couldn’t help unless it was an accredited course. Parking here can be a massive problem though. There is no designated car park so you need to find a spot on the street. Eeeek. Not easy in busy, bustling Midland. However, Gilberts(a fresh food market) has recently opened so sometimes I pull a sneaky trick. Their sign says: «Customer parking only.» I find it’s usually worth it to make myself a momentary customer. I saunter in, buy a drink, then head off to see Candice. Problem — solved.
