Macs For You is a great shop to visit for anyone considering moving to the slightly cooler, yet little bit more arrogant Apple corporation staple. Before I get done for copyright, I can’t take credit for my opening line. I heard Macs referred to as arrogant computers by a comedian last night — but I reckon he’s on to it. They are a little bit arrogant. All slim and crisp and fancy with lots of white space around their instructions. Anyway, back to Macs For You. It’s a small retailer on Great Eastern Highway and you could easily miss this shop, but I suggest you don’t. The guy who runs it is Canadian and he is really helpful in a gentle, non-domineering Canadian sort of a way. They sell some second-hand Macs here too, which is great for anyone wanting to go up that alley. I personally wanted a brand new one. Hey, if I’m going to be pretentious I might as well do it properly. However, I do remember thinking some of the second– hand options would be a great deal. I also thought I’d want to be a bit more computer savvy before I purchase a second-hand one without an extended guarantee. Mac accessories are sold here too and I found the prices to be competitive with other Apple stores. I know The Apple Store in Perth says they will beat any price. But for the sake of maybe ten or twenty bucks I’d rather give my cash to a local guy rather than a multinational mega company. By the way, I am aware of the irony that buying any Mac product supports Apple and the company’s ethos, regardless of where you buy the product from. I’m still happier this guy gets a slice of the apple pie.
