I was really excited to give this place a go as I get tired of cooking healthy meals or eating unhealthy foods every time I go out. Overall I wasn’t too impressed. The customer service was poor to start with. When I received my meal, it was very sloppy. I had a get strong bowl that included a beef patty and some sweet potato mash on a bed of spinach. It looked like cafeteria food, with the mustard and tomato sauce drenching my meal and the extra items just thrown on top in the bowl. It’s nice that they do serve«better for you foods» instead of the typical fast food lunches. But it was a disappointing experience for the price you pay for the food.

THR1VE is designed with specialty diets in mind, creating a list of smoothies and salads that allows you to choose your base, protein and add ons to suit your paleo/superfood charged/restricted lifestyle. Remember when Boost juice was new and wheatgrass shots were going to save us all? THR1VE reminds me of the 2014 version of this concept, where we’re now concerned about what we’re leaving out. So if you dread asking for meals minus half the ingredients to suit your diet needs, you will LOVE this place. Particularly as a fast food court option that remains healthy. So what about the rest of us simply looking for lunch? As a full-fat loving, eat all the things kinda gal, I would not eat here by choice.

Finding nutrient dense, crap free food at lunch in the city is sometimes a bit of a challenge. Hello Thr1ve — solving our food needs since 2014. I’m a fan of the bowls, particularly with sweet potato. I love the fact that I can control the amount of protein choosing either entrée or main sizes. The only thing I dislike(which is such a first world problem) is the queues and consequential crowding outside the ordering area. Really, that’s Emporium’s fault though. For a great filling lunch, hit it up.

Been here at least 3 times. Love their soy latte. Got a bit adventurous and tried an almond milk latte. Not baaaad. Well I’ve only tried their drinks, service is fast and good and the berry shake I’ve tried was pretty smooth, fruity and creamy. Wasn’t watered down nor did it turn to a gunk after a long period of time. May thrive thrive!

I have just had my first experience at Thr1ve and all I can say is… WOW! Food is delicious and comes in either entrée or main size. Entrée was enough for me. Loved the green mango smoothie as well. Very well priced as well. I highly recommend!

I had the Breakfast Bowl and a coffee here this morning and it was very nice. Lovely flavored bacon. Lots of different Gluten free options on the build it youself type menu. Staff were also very friendly and service was quick and coffee good. Nothing bad to say about this place. Paid $ 17 for bacon eggs tomato spinach brown rice smashed avocado and a long black so pretty good value. Would eat again.

Often I find myself conflicted. I want to eat out with friends but I also want to eat a healthy nutritious meal. Sandwiches and noodles just don’t cut it when you’re trying to be healthy. Upon hearing of thr1ve and their simple pales inspired menu I felt like the girl in the taco commercial … You know the one… I can now do both. Went out for lunch with some Paleo loving colleagues and yes it was all it was cracked up to be. My only regret was not ordering a salad as I could have done with some greens. I will be back … More options and of course coconut water and almond milk smoothies to try.

As a Gemini, I feel it’s my duty to live up to the starsign stereotype of living my life as two separate people. Which is why one day you’ll see me gorging on cheese and drinking cocktails all over town, and the next day drinking vegetable juice and nothing else. Thrive is like a gateway between both of these two styles of eating. It’s real food, super tasty and filing, but it’s also not going to give you cheese dreams or a raging sugar hangover the next day. Each of their signature bowls is densely packed with nutrition and my first experience included brown rice, Vietnamese pork, a tiny scatter of raw slaw(I would have like more) and an extra side of roasted Broccoli with chili and almond. When my number was called and I looked at the bowl I thought it looked a little small for the price($ 15.90) but by the end of working my way through it I was very full and very satisfied. If you have a Paleo, Vegan, Vegetarian, Flexitarians of Gemini in your life then bring them here for a healthy meal.

For weeks I have been closely following Thr1ve on Instagram, keenly anticipating the first Melbourne opening at the Emporium. Today I visited the new store salivating the thought of paleo friendly take out food right in the CBD. I guess my expectations were clearly set too high, as I left ‘Thr1ving’ for more. I found many problems: — Front counter staff was absolutely clueless about the menu and found it very difficult to answer my questions about ingredients and whether the bread/toast was paleo(I understand the staff are new but surely comprehensive training was part of their induction). Staff need to know their menu options inside out — Berry shake was very bland with very little flavour — $ 10 for 4 spoonfuls of granola? — 1⁄3 of a banana added to granola and pancakes. Could Thr1ve spare any more? — Dry pancakes with no apple flavour, despite proudly being advertised as the special of the week. Seriously, the cost per meal size(and insignificant portion size of meals) of this place will surely deter repeat customers. This concept is such a breath of fresh air to the Melbourne dining scene however I fail to see myself returning. I don’t have a huge appetite and love eating paleo with ingredients that should leave me fuller for longer, but I can’t go past the fact that I’d have to spend $ 20+ just to fill up. Sorry Thr1ve, it’s back to Paleo Café in Mornington and home cooked paleo my way for me.
