This is simple home cooked fair that has generous servings for a good price. You might get Shepherd’s Pie, Roast Pork and Veges, or Beef Goulash and they’ll cover the plate for you. Its a great change from Asian or other high-carb lunches. If it lookscrowded check out the extra couple of tables hidden around the corner at the back.

The Paris End of Collins St is the fancy end — the bit with all the Armani and the pretty buildings. The bit that reminds you of Paris(hence the name). So you’d expect to find that a café called the«Paris End Café» is a classy joint. Or at least priced like a classy joint. No and no. Cheap and cheerful, and always busy, the Paris End Café serves breakfast, coffee and lunchtime food to a hungry business crowd fresh off the trains. Coffee wasn’t good when I had some, it was quite burnt, and I didn’t order any food but it’s at the cheaper end of Melbourne’s breakfast prices. This worries me — it’s hard to keep a breakfast under $ 10 without seriously skimping on ingredients. Still, the table next to me dug into their massive platefuls with relish, so it’s got to have something going for it.
