Collected Works is on the first floor in the bohemian environment of the Nicholas Building, which is full of fashion designer studios and jewelers workshops. I always enjoy my time in this bookshop, even if I don’t buy anything it feels like an education in literature. It is a great bookshop for literature and also a few other areas like philosophy, cultural studies, mythologies, more reason for me to visit. There is so much in this little bookshop and the staff love literature. Every year on the 16th of June they have a readings from Ulysses on Bloomsday. I look at my favorite area of literature; the American Beats. The shelves of the shop are organized by nationality, writers and subjects and there are articles, photographs stuck to the some of the shelves, like a giant scrap book. There are photographs of Jack Kerouac on the shelf next to the sign for the Beats. I am tempted by the new edition of William Burroughs Naked Lunch. I can spend ages exploring the shelves.
