I love me tent and I got it right here at Aussie Disposals. They have a range of tents that is fit for low budgets and they have heaps of old banger style camping gear that is prefect for festivals at the like.
I also got this self inflating travel mattress from here and it’s seriously changed my life. I have a bad back but still love camping and festival shenanigans, so now I don’t have to worry about having a shit sleep on holiday unless I’ve drunken too much piss and my own fault any way.
The have ace staff here and don’t begrudge you if you’re on a budget. They also have great gumboots for festival time. You know you need ‘em every year. Rock out in your gummys yo.

Ok so the army disposals may be pretty thin on the ground with most things being other than army gear. But Aussie Disposals stocks a great range of camping and outdoor paraphalia at very reasonable prices.
The brands that they stock may not be of the highest quality either. But I find that most aren’t gimmicky, which is a big no no if you are planning to come face to face with nature and her rough ways.
Aussie Disposals also has a lot of bits and bobs that you just can’t find elsewhere. If break some piece of equipment like a buckle on your backpack and don’t fancy forking out another $ 600 — then try Aussie Disposals. Chances are they will sell buckles for a few bucks. They also have some pretty serious insect repellent with deet concentrations upwards of 70%. Just beware, I purchased some and it melted my tent right the way through.

Have you ever noticed just how expensive outdoor gear and camping stuff is? If you want to get a bargain and don’t feel like you are getting ripped off then Aussie Disposals in the place to go.
I went looking for tent pegs and must have tried several (perhaps more upmarket) stores. They would set me back $ 2 each on average. At Aussie Disposals I could find them for 60 or 70c a pop. They also have a huge range of gas burners and stoves and have staff that are very approachable and can pretty much find you the best thing for your needs. Just ask.
I’d always go here first for any outdoor stuff or equipment.

Aussie Disposals is my pick of the camping and Army stores in the city. Yep, it’s a chain but A) it was started in Victoria (in Moe) in the 60s, and B) that just means they have everything you need and you don’t need to worry about getting ripped off, unlike in some other Army shops in the city.
I picked up some good quality waterproof boots for $ 100 here and then saw them for $ 130 in the window of a place down the street, so they’ve got my trust. They’ve also got a good selection of backpacks and hardy clothing, fishing gear, ski gear, tents, sleeping bags, gas stoves and other outdoor cooking gear and travel equipment like adapters and clothing lines. Of course, if you do want to shop around, it’s located within walking distance of the other camping stores on Elizabeth St.

We used this place to buy all the kit we needed for camping and walking. It’s relatively small, yet still manages to stock a good range of absolutely everything — we bought everything from tents, walking boots and sleeping bags to the little bits like knives and torches. It tends to stock line ends, which means the prices are really good but the quality is still high. The real reason to go is the staff, who are very friendly and very knowledgeable — they were able to help us make lots of good decisions and were very patient with our dithering. They also made a huge effort to find me a replacement pair of faulty but much loved boots in my size, finding just about the last pair in Australia and having them shipped in for me.
