Mascot Charcoal Chickens

My search for old school charcoal rotisserie chicken landed me here recently. This is a local chook shop on the main strip of Mascot — not far from the famous Hong Ha bakery. The charcoal chooks are of a decent size and freshly cooked a few times a day. My chook takeaway chook was nicely cooked and still very moist — the danger with charcoal chicken is being overcooked and dry.
If I had a complaint it was the ‘weak’ charcoal scent and flavor. Not sure if they were using enough charcoal or maybe it was too well ventilated and the charcoal smoke didn’t have a chance to really get into the chook?
This shop sells numerous sides from chips to pastas to salads but nothing really caught my attention.

Salads variety is pretty good. Chicken and chips are yummy. Pastas and rice dishes are usually very tasty. Service is slow sometimes, but mostly because it’s always crowded in the shop, and the compensate that with the friendly service.
