I ventured into this place looking for a low carb dinner option. The place has a izakaya feel about it and frequented by Japanese clientele. Thus, I could not wait to taste the food! the staff were very accommodating even though their kitchen was about to close. The staff went out of their way to re-arrange tables to provide us with a table for three. I had the sashimi salad and the momo for dinner. The sashimi salad was fantastic! The salmon strips were very fresh and melted like butter in my mouth. The salad had a slightly western take but the combination was just right. Overall it was a fantastic dish and will be ordering it again. The mono platter consisted of slices of salmon, snapper, tuna and bonito. I was surprised to see that locally caught bonito was on the menu since it is one of my favorite fish to eat. You could taste the freshness of the fish and nothing beats this taste! Overall, it is the best sashimi I have had in Perth. i will definitely come back for dinner to sample their other dishes. I suspect I will end up becoming a regular. Overall, it was one of the best Japanese dining experiences I have had and would recommend this place to anyone else who like authentic Japanese food.

My friend and I made a last minute booking here for a weeknight dinner. We were shown to a table fairly quickly but no menus provided. I thought maybe we were supposed to order at the counter so grabbed a couple of menus myself before realising there was supposed to be table service but our waitress had just forgotten about us… Not the best start! We had to ask a different waitress to take our order as there was no one actually coming to our table. We had a mixed sashimi plate, gyoza, a spider roll and a miso eggplant dish. It was all tasty but nothing special except for the eggplant, which I didn’t enjoy as it was too sweet but my friend loved. All in all, it’s ok food wise but unfortunately the lack of service really let it down.

I had Chicken Katsu for lunch. Quality wise, it was ok. Services from the waitress was excellent. Like Grace M. said, it’s sometime is a hit/miss in terms of quality. Price is on the higher end though, $ 12 or above.

We ate here last night, the food was really good and service staff were happy. I recommend the vegetarian special and a few sides to share between 2 people.

I had the teriyaki tofu lunch special. Consisted of four pieces of tofu deep fried and teriyaki sauce. Edamame, salad rice and miso all for 13 dollars! Well presented in a takeaway bento box. Very fresh and delicious! Will come back for the spicy katsu curry next!

Mon seems to be a hit n a miss. They make great sushi but it goes super fast. The meals… not so great. Got the chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu set, and for the 3rd time my partners katsu set came with no katsu sauce. My chicken teriyaki was about 4 small slices of chicken. The savior of the meal was the miso soup. Super yum! Also the gyoza is quite tasty.

Cheap Japanese food. Wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve had but you get what you pay for. Not bad for lunch. Décor is cute and quaint. Wasn’t a fan of the green tea, the curry and chicken noodles were ok. The chicken was of poor quality. Good for a cheap on the go meal.

I went to Mon last night for dinner before heading to a movie… I have to say I have definitely experience better Japanese! We ordered the Gyozas– which were delicious, and then the pork belly skewers, teriyaki chicken and katsu curry– all of which were quite average, my chicken teriyaki actually had quite a strange flavour to the sauce. It was also fairly expensive coming to $ 20 each as corkage was $ 5 per person! Not sure I will come here again…

Forgot to make a booking at our chosen restaurant last night so had to quickly find a quieter restaurant that could seat us. Found this new little Japanese restaurant. I got the Chicken Teriyaki and also had some Gyoza and Pork Skewers. All were cooked excellent, I especially loved the flavoring of the Chicken Teriyaki. Prices were a little bit more expensive compared to other Japanese restaurants but I suppose this one was a little bit more fancy. They also provide BYO at $ 5.00 a bottle, which is a bit steep in my eyes.

Excellent value, fresh and tasty Japanese tapas and meals. A welcome addition to the Leederville food scene!
