Sometimes, just sometimes, you have a craving for Thai food. For me it comes few and far between kind of like indian food, maybe it’s to do with curries or something, I don’t know okay. But when that little craving comes along and bites me on the bum, I want good thai food. I don’t want mediocre tastes kind of like thai but is really chinese food, I want thai. I’m not a big fan of driving far for takeaway so when Thai Mountain opened around the corner from me, I thought, let’s go try that one. First impressions, oh, it’s right next to the daycare I didn’t want my kids to go to(not a reflection on the restaurant, just a fact) second impressions were ‘wow, the waitresses are dressed up in traditional thai attire’… pretty impressive so far and I haven’t even sat down yet. Thirdly, the place isn’t that big, it’s pretty small, so it’s pretty hard squeezing a pram in there… as my husband and 2 kids found out. One of our traditions with thai restaurants is that we always order the Pad Thai… because it’s the easiest judge of whether or not the place is a phony or the real thing. I was super impressed. They used fresh ingredients and the even had the chewy see through flat rice noodles… awesoooommmmee! The menu is pricey but a little bit posh. It’s great for your Thai craving if you ever get one, and you are never let down. Try the Beef with cashew stirfry as well, they put something in the sauce that makes you want to lick the plate, but don’t, that’s not cool in a posh restaurant. I had to tell my husband that a few times, but then I tasted it and just try and stop me. I used a spoon though. So for the western suburbs, it’s better than most, and when you get up to pay, they always have a fancy pants little floral decoration masterpiece by the counter, except it’s made of carrot, or cabbage, or some vegetable — that’s very Master Chef too.
