Yum yum! After spending 2wks in Nam this was my first official outing back in Perth treating my family to some Vietnamese. It’s a nice no frills BYO restaurant with fresh tasting authentic food. Yes I had Phở Ga, and it was damn good.

So Junkboat is the new Little Saigon, in the exact same spot on Beaufort Street.
I hear one of the two original owners left the operation, so the remaining owner thought it was time for a makeover both physically and on the menu too. The result is a more modern interior and a slightly more trend aware menu.
Lots of great standard Vietnamese dishes for everyone who liked the dishes from Little Saigon, but now they have a juice bar (great news for juice lovers like me!) and some Banh Mi on the menu too.
Service was friendly, but a bit hit and miss in terms of getting things we asked for like glasses and water etc.
It’s byo so a really great spot for a cheap meal. We stuffed ourselves silly and it only cost us $ 25 each.

I love Vietnamese food, so I am über excited that this place has opened up on Beaufort Street. Junkboat Vietnamese combines traditional dishes like phở, bun, baguettes and rice paper rolls with a really comfortable, relaxed and casual atmosphere plus super friendly service. In fact, the coffee and bun are the most authentic I’ve tasted in Perth, although I wasn’t that fussed by the phở tai.
With all its hip bars and fancy dining joints, I feel the neighborhood needs more down to earth, cheap dining options up this end of Beaufort Street. Don’t get me wrong, though. This place is tasty as well as accessible.
Please note: cash only, BYO $ 2.50 each, very convenient hours and 20% off during February. Oh, and the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio was absolutely delicious!
